So, I've tried my hand at a Barghast Warrior Woman, mostly inspired by the Skin Cut we meet in Dust of Dreams. This is my entry for the Malazan Art Guild Founding Fathers and other Humanoids contest.

The face paint is not quite as described in the books, but this sort of fit better.

Wow! shes even more viscious up close :lol:

I commented on DA about the torso. also not sure if DoD
mentions something but are the two front teeth really
that sharp?

I sort of remember the Barghast filing their teeth so the sharp teeth doesnt seem that off i dont think.

It is sort of odd that they are so long and prominent compared to the rest of teeth in her mouth. While my front teeth seem a little longer than the rest they're not THAT long.

I took that from Trotts. He's described as having filed and blue-stained teeth, caused by some root or something he likes to chew on.

The front teeth are normal length, the rest are just really filed down. It's a fashion thing:P

Freaky as hell, that much is true, but...

There seems to be something awfully off with her limbs.
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

Her right arm (her right, not our right!) seems a tad short. Also, I'm having difficulties picturing the position of the legs in 3-d. It's all minor stuff, though, and highly subjective.


Also, this destroys my imagining of Hetan as being dangerously sexy.

Eeeek, now I see it too! It is too short...damn. More things to add to my fix this-list:P

So, I've fixed a few things: Elongated the arm and torso, and fixed the teeth a little. Better now?

It looks better, but think that her legs need a bit of work now to suit the change in upper body proportions. Can you post up the reference?
