You simply need to start a thread, ask for interest and then we can PM you for email address and you can email out by the chapter...if you like. A few of us would be happy to have a read.

Nice find on the thread, this thing goes back YEARS!

looking for a link to a forum where you have to critique three texts before you can upload another chapter. Don't know who posted it, maybe Sixty or Yellow. Sound familiar to anyone?

Here's the link if you're interested.

Ah, ok. Maybe I'll do that. I just have to figure out how much time I actually have to read and give in-depth critique and general comments. Don't want to do anything half-assed ;)

Is only fantasy allowed?

Thanks!

Yeah, I will...when I've written something decent. Currently I'm just concentrating on my entry for the writing-contest:)

Anything you want. A bit of non-fantasy makes a nice break now and then :(

Sci-Fi would be fantastic. :( I personally don't mind non-speculative fiction, but when I read realistic/historic fiction I often find myself agonizing/nitpicking over inaccuracies (Dan Brown I'm looking at you) and it detracts from my reading.
So, I suppose, make sure you're correct about what you write about. D: That's what's fantastic about speculative fiction--because you define the rules of the world, you can't be wrong. Horribly absurd, perhaps, but not wrong.

Thread revival.

TV Tropes

Aside from the hilarious, and life-eating nature of this site, it is also a treasure trove of good, writing-related pages. Things to avoid, common ideas in all genres, etc. And, as I said, it's hilarious, and therefore fun. XD

I'd certainly recommend Limyaael's fantasy rants - http://limyaael.livejournal.com. The rants cover pretty much everything from magic to developing a fantasy language.

  • - Thread Killer -

Posted 05 October 2010 - 02:03 AM

I'll revive this thread since i only just came across this podcast WRITING EXCUSES (and it's associated website) and thought it might be of interest to somebody. Though i'm sure most of ye have probably heard of them.

Despite not being a writer of any kind myself, i still found the podcasts to be entertaining and informative. and as their tagline states, each episode is only approx 15 mins long. They just won at the PARSEC awards (whatever they are?) for “Best Content Creation Podcast” and it's easy to see why. I checked out some of the other nominees, and none were as instantly appealing, though your mileage may vary. I think the 15 min deadline Writing Excuses have set themselves keeps things fresh and leaves you wanting more. Plus you get several different perspectives from the hosts, Brandon Sanderson (Epic Fantasy), Dan Wells (Horror) and Howard Tayler (Sci-Fi Web comics).

turns out the Parsec Awards are for Speculative fiction podcasting. So for the sake of completeness, here are this years finalists

hope some of this is helpful.
