hi

I am about to start HoC and was wondering if you people could fill me in about how Baudin became knight to Hood in MoI. I haven't read MoI in a while so my mind is abit hassy but it was the only thing that I didn't get.

thanks for the help!

as an after thought i also don't get this thing about kruppe. is he krhul (the god, i can't spell it) or does he have extra powers other than dreaming or is he just there for amusement?

thanks again

Hood came to collect Baudin's soul, personally, in Deadhouse Gates. Most likely because Baudin did such a good job of keeping Felisin alive and saving her from Gryllen.

Also, Kruppe is NOT K'rul, but they have a working relationship to one another. In MoI, it's theorized that K'rul chose Kruppe to work with because Kruppe is a genius, and I'm sure the geographic range helped as well.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

The location of K'rulls belfry in Darujistan most likely had a say in it, but there is also the matter of K'rul changing aspects.

When Kallor sees Keruli at the summit outside Capustan, he sees the god for who he is, and K'rul mentions something about changing to adapt with the times. Keruli demonstrates that he is capable of putting the Caravan guards in a protective sleep, and when K'rul has a mental meeting with Envy, he seems to put one of the big dogs to sleep with his mere presence.

K'rul is part dream god now, and the realm of dreams seem very much to be something that Kruppe has mastered, and as such this is most likely where they first meet, which leads to the forging of Silverfox.
