Hi Malazan Art people,

here's a sketch of Paran, based more on what I feel Paran looks like rather than any particular description. I will hopefully do more characters to post here, possible in scenarios. I hope you enjoy.

Hmm. I imagine he looks younger but more fucked up. Gaunt perhaps and somewhat haggard and after MoI

That's not a bad effort - especially given that we have very little in the way of descriptions of Paran.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Thanks for posting it!

Nice pic Tehol, reminds me a little bit of Clive Owen. He looks a bit too old for me but as you say it's a personal interpretation based on how you feel he looks.

The way you have done the stubble on his face is particularly good. :pirate:
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

It's very well done but I agree with the others that he should be a bit younger.

That's pretty good:)

But I would perhaps try to avoid using grey/black/ darker variation of base tone for shading, it keeps it kinda dull and flat. Try using different colours for shading, like blue and green and reddish browns....same goes for highlights...stay away from the pure white, unless the surface is extremely shiny/reflective...just a few hints that have helped me a great deal along the way:)

I'm also in the 'looks too old' camp, but that is a REALLY nice pic. There are a couple of other characters I could see that being. The ragged/tired/unshaven thing brings Banaschar to mind.

- Abyss, outta be in pictures.

hehe thanks for the replies and the feedback - all appreciated and taken on board.

Re: Paran's appearance - yeah I am sure people will have very different impressions - this is just something like how I imagine him. Scars though... yessss.....

Cheers.

Well the main Paran description is that he's supposedly fairly good looking, and this fellow looks pretty easy on the eyes (though he could use a shave!), so bravo!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Wow tehol, I realy like the expression u gave paran. A gaze into thngs people dare nt see. I agree that he does luk aged bt i believe al that time marching in the elements would give his skin a more "weathered" look. Please keep it coming!

OK, I've taken a few years off him (I still want him to look a bit older than his age, a bit world weary and 'experienced'.... like a veteran cricket player or something...) and added a few scars.

getting closer to Torvald now :pirate:

black hair, while thinning from the front, hung in a long ponytail that had been tucked up beneath the hat but now fell to the small of his back. His forehead and face were seamed in scars, and most of his left ear was missing, slashed away some time past. Scratching a moment at his beard, he then settled the hat back on, and headed off down the alley.

I like how you softened the lines to make him look younger.

- Abyss, psychologically scarred.
