"It's all going down." Bring it home SE!!!!!!
Good job, Pat!
Good job, Pat!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Quote
the only thing that rankled me in some of the reviews was the expression of doubt regarding my ability to pull off this finale, to which I respond: for fuck sake, there's been nine books so far, and each one has delivered the punch I intended (even if some readers objected to some of those punches), so where does this doubt come from? I'll deliver. I always have and there's no sign of stumbling this time around. Yeesh.
what a guy! sock it to em SE

When exactly was this meeting in San Jose he mentions?

The meeting in San Jose was, in all likelihood, the last World Fantasy Awards.

"even still, it does sometimes seem that reviews (ie amazon reader comments) attack with a hidden agenda that baffles me. What's become clear via the internet is that some readers of certain writers confuse their pleasure at that writer's work and end up positioning themselves in some weird kind of belligerent loyalty: as if other writers were somehow competing with their favourite...As to the lengths such fans will go, now that's alarming indeed. But it's all misplaced and a waste of energy, as far as I can see."
Poor SE... it has to be hard to be targeted by such trollish attacks. I work as movie and games journalist and waves of hatred are sometimes surprising, but its only fucking review... to be punished for his great work, well... Ill be probably sometimes pretty depressed... and pissed off.

Can't wait for TCG, already sounds incredible and SE sounds very confident.
Not that I ever doubted.

"It's all going down" - sent chills down my spine.
And what's this about overly obsessive fans? Don't think I've ever come across any
Also, SE doesn't need to promote himself. We'll do it for him!

Loved the 'hee hee'-part
And I'm going to quote this interview every time someone starts mewling about what's the point of this and that and whether it's too much for SE to put all the strings together yadda yadda. Never wanted to sound like a rapid fan so having a quote is just perfect
Great interview, thanks, pat

"But generally, it does seem that most of my genuine readers remain on board, which is a relief (especially after the ruckus with Toll the Hounds), and certainly the cliff-hanger ending was forewarned enough for people to be all right with it."
What did he mean with the ruckus with TTH?
I'm not too active over here and I didn't see any topics about this on the TTH forum.

It wouldn't really show up here since most of the members are die-hard SE fans, but I gather a couple of people feel the series has weakend over the book or two and SE drew a fair amount of flak for Toll.
