"She's in there!" Bill shouted to the assembled police. Beatrix had earlier infiltrated his home and after a tense battle in which both were wounded, she retreated to a back room of the hacienda.

"You are surrounded," the negotiator said over a large megaphone. "Come out with your hands up or we will be forced to come in after you."

Beatrix panicked. She was in a bind. She had rushed in so foolishly in her bloodlust... How could I be so stupid, she wondered.

Hurrying up a flight of stairs, she accidentally knocked over a lantern. It spilled its oil upon the ground and a nearby tapestry which quickly caught fire. Horrified, Beatrix reached the top of the stairs as smoke filled the halls, her escape cut off.

The inferno blazed hotter and hotter and grew closer and closer. Outside, officers could see smoke coming from the home and a window shattered as a tendril of flame escaped.

Bill looked on in horror at his home as the top-most window of the elaborate home was pushed open. Beatrix stood there, her once-beautiful face now covered in black smoke and ash.

"BILL!" she screamed down at him at the top of her lungs. The police pointed their guns up at the window.

She screamed again, "You and I have unfinished business!" She reached for something at her side.

"Fire!" said the negotiator in charge of the police, and a salvo of bullets riddled the hacienda. Beatrix fell back into the house.

Bill looked on in astonished horror as the house was consumed by flames. His phone rang.

"Sir...?" his contact on the other end said. "We have some news... your contact at the hospital where Beatrix was housed was found dead earlier." Bill was so stupefied by the scene in front of him, he said nothing before hanging up and watching his home burn to the ground in an inferno of fire.[/b]
