I like to believe Brys is high on the best-o-meter to the point where he's perhaps equal to Dassem. Of course we've only seen his skill on display once, against Rhulad, and that was back when Rhulad was still relatively average with skill since he got better every time he died, but it was an impressive outting with Brys shrugging the fight off like it never happened. Sure, he's not an ascendant but I believe he's something else, and sure he doesn't have the experience of someone like Rake but SE has been putting Brys over and I'm going to reserve my judgement for tCG.

Because Rake manipulated the fight. He got the outcome he wanted, dassem didn't. As well as this, Osserc basically ignores dassem, and Rake is of a similar level(though this could just be down to the fact that Osserc could wipe dassem out without the need to be a better swordsman, as could rake have if he'd wished). I disagree with the first part of your spoiler. I'm not saying its not possible, but it seems a bit much to automatically assume that means anything about the fight's 'real' outcome.

Just because I can manipulate how I lose a game or a fight, doesn't mean it means I was so good I could have gotten any outcome possible. Also about Osserc, I think he was just being arrogant in that scene in shadowkeep. Or, since he had been asleep for so long he might have had no idea who ST, Cots and Dassem were and assumed he was safe when he really wasn't.

out of all the books I would say its Dassem, Anomander, Brys and the Seguleh 1,2,3 who are in a class for themself. I dont think you can judge one of them better then any other until we see them fight each other.

On the subject of kallor and whiskeyjack I still like to belive that whiskeyjack is the better swordsman. And thats from the comments "that he used to spar with dassem and it would take him awhile to get past his guard" and then in RotCG we see dassem impale kallor after 2 parrys!! kallor was like any random edur vs Iron bars when he plowed trough those edur and the emperor.

Seguleh First (ranges between here and above Karsa)
Seguleh Second
Seguleh Third (coulde be as good as the First)

Silchas Ruin/Trull Sengar/Icarium (variable positions)
Caladan Brood (quite possibly up with Dassem, but no evidence whatsoever that we've seen, other than his un-mention in MoI)

And so on down the list. Essentially, the only ones that I'm adamant on, are the top three. For me, that *is* the order, regardless of "what if's", as evidence in later books points to this as the correct order.

Anomander - first definitely. The descriptions in TTH of his power and all that is implied throughout I think make this a no brainer
Seguleh 1st - I know we've not seen him but I got the feeling that the 3rd was ridiculous and was a huge surprise to the ancient beings in the world
Dassem - He's a God and the adopted son of the Imass 1st sword...so yeah...oh and Rake let him win...heheheheheh
Seguleh 3rd - The second hasn't shown enough of himself
Karsa Orlong - well...he laughed when he dueled the Seguleh 12th....LAUGHED!!!!
Brys - woot
Tool - for his fighting the K'chain at the end of MOI he is incredibly good clearly

Rake engineered his death yes but who's to say that he wasn't of a mind that "I've got to make sure that if i'm going to die then i die by my own sword, so not to mess up my own plans"
