Well I agree with the sentiments that these things usually come down to a "he's not my leader" lynch option.
Ano's earlier comment that he was selling his services struck me as odd, even if it's early-game banter. And it totally reminded me of this:
Since Lu Bu is a loner (and a total badass), my Day 1 interest is piqued.

Quote
"Though he wanders with no lord or army, Lu Bu is still a fearless warrior who can ride a thousand li in a single day and slaughter a dozen men before dismounting. No man can match his prowess, what greater hero could there be?"
Since Lu Bu is a loner (and a total badass), my Day 1 interest is piqued.

My first instinct is that it's way too obvious, but I am curious what Ano has to say about your vote. After all this is mafia, and obvious doesn't fly unless it hangs.
I agree that it seems way too obvious. But with little else happening I am interested to hear his response.
Aside from that, it looks as if much of the first few days will be decided on luck. With everyone starting out at an army size/strength/mojo/whatever of 1, fewer than one third of the night actions are likely to go through. Actions can only succeed on those of the correct type for tonight, and even then only if the target has not already completed a successful action. Anyone who gets two successes in the first two nights may be able to do as they please afterward.

I'm still here.
I haven't played one D'reks game before. Should we even lynch on day one?

IMO it is always worth it to lynch, even in merc games. There is always some information that will come out of a lynch train and the preamble leading up to it.

I guess it would be good to take a chance at hitting one of the leaders.
Do you think Ano is who people think he is.
If he is, do you think he should be taken out before he is snatched up?

I assume, at least for now, that he was honest in saying he was taking the piss, but will wait to hear from him again before deciding on whether he is Lu Bu.
At the same time, in the OP it pretty much says that nobody is stronger than anyone else to start, so hunting faction leaders would be more beneficial than hunting Lu Bu. Someone like Cao Cao or Yaun Shao, whom if my memory serves correct would have significant numbers of followers by now, is a better target to prevent their factions from growing.

Hey guys, checking in at home. Fair warning, I've had a few Buds.
You have a good point about the army size action result business, Spite. Since we all start at 1, the first night is going to be entirely based upon luck of picking someone you can defeat at equal army sizes. However, the whole army-destroy ability when you hit the same personality and the guard ability of the defensive subs (which seem to only be able to block tactical players on night 1) will probably make it a bit more interesting than anyone expects.
Also, don't forget that similar-type actions are resolved in the orders they are placed, so it's quite possible for a player to do something they normally wouldn't be able to do (due to a guard for example) simply due to getting in the action earlier.
I don't really expect Ano to be Lu Bu and if he were, I doubt he'd admit it. He'd have played horribly on Day 1 to expose himself like that, especially if he's a loner. Honestly, I'm more interested to see what other people think of it than Ano himself.

No worries about the few Buds, I'm approaching the same state myself (though not with bud, never with bud).
It will be interesting to see the spoilers after this game, just to see how the first night unfolds. If we have successful NAs due entirely to similar types doubling up on someone I will laugh.
As for Ano being Lu Bu, even if he is that makes targeting him questionable. Do we take out a killer or take a stab at finding a faction leader? I would rather hit a leader myself, but if we have no real leads on one, a killer is not a bad snare for any faction who's leader was not on when Ano posted or when Meaneas connected the dots.

umm, I thought we killed Lu Bu last game, too...
Ayhow, my memory's kinda sketchy, but didn't Lu Bu end up siding with someone pretty quickly?

I'm heading to bed, so see you all sometime tomorrow. If you somehow actually make a lynch just wait patiently 'til I get back and I'll resolve it and night. In the meantime, have a half-day scene:
---
At this time the court was in the hands of Zhang Ji, who had made himself regent-general, and Fan Chou, the self-styled regent. These two generals rode roughshod over everyone. WHo at court could protest? Grand Commandant Yang Biao and Treasurer Zhu Jun secretly petitioned Emperor Xian: "Your humble sevant has a plan to turn the two traitors against each other and then summon Cao Cao to purge their faction and secure the court." With Emperor Xian's permission, Yang Biao began manipulating Fan Chou's jealous wife to sow dissension between Zhang Ji and her husband.
One day, after Zhang Ji persuaded Fan Chou to come home with him after court. They ate and drank until late. Fan Chou went home drunk and coincidentally was seized with stomach cramps. "You've been poisoned!" cried Lady Fan, and she forced an emetic on him. He felt better after vomiting. "I collaborated with Zhang Ji in the takeover; what cause has he to do me in? If I don't act first, however, I'll be the loser," Fan Chou said and quietly readied his army for an attack on Zhang Ji. Zhang Ji, informed of Fan Chou's moves, said, "How dare he!" and sent his own forces against his own collaborator. The two armies, tens of thousands in all, fought in a free-for-all just outisde the capital, at the same time availing themselves of the opportunity to plunder the populace.
Zhang Ji's nephew, Zhang Xiu, surrounded the palace with his men. He put the sovereign in one carriage, the Empress in another, and assigned Jia Xu and Zuo Ling to escort them out of the capital. The rest of the palace staff and the women followed on foot. As they crowded through the rear gate of the ministerial house, Fan Chou's soldiers accosted them and killed many with volleys of arrows. At that moment Zhang Ji rode up and forced Fan Chou's men to give way.
Thus did the imperial party got out of the city. But, burdened by wounded and with no supplies, would they escape the grasp of the villains Fan Chou and Zhang Ji?
