Here's a novel concept.

People could maybe try to HIDE their identity to keep from being alt-guessed? If you cant be arsed to do so, you deserve to be NK'd early. That could be part of the challenge, no?

No. Nor do you deserve to be NKed just because your name is Dibs and you have trademark smilies, references and an exclusive claim on Irish punctuation.

Many of us play so long with others that no matter the amount of hiding they do, they'll get alt-guessed, and investing too much time in not getting alted is going to affect your play. Often, the timezone is enough to narrow down choices (NZ zone, to name one) and unlike Ment at times used to do, most of us can't sleep by day and post by night just to avoid alt-guessing.
If rankings are what is going to get a player NKed or lynched or vigged or guarded rather than their in-game behaviour, the cup is a bad influence on games and lowers the quality of the games, where it should be an addition and something that makes people try to bring out the best in their play.

The cup should be just statistics and bragging rights, not a meta-game that influences in-game behaviour.

now, now.... I would only SAY I'd go to bed whilst going to work...and vice versa, to confuse people...

I think.

Liosan is fail :D
On topic, i thinkthe Man of the match sort of thing is a good idea but a point system would just distract from game to much imo

You're damned alts anyway.

I mean, the director told me I could not spend more than 5 lines on my speech. In classical award speech tradition, I already stretched that by 50%, and I could not leave out religious cry-outs, mention of my family and agent or my own avatar. Also, I stopped copy/pasting from the password thread after comparing three games from very different periods in the last year and deleting most of them because they were doubles/triples.

On my next award, I'll name you first. Twice, even. Honestly.

Note to self... don't include Kalse, Eloth, Alkend, Osseric, Antrahal and Korbas but 'misplace' their passwords during Spycraft 2.

If you do want to do anything, I'd say letting the mod of a game award a Man of the Match nominee, maybe even create a couple of categories he can choose between (and include sportmanship so being nice rather than cut-throat has a place and can be rewarded), and the one with the most awards in a single category at the end of the year wins that category.

Or use a poll to decide around christmas time...

I've not been around much, but for what it's worth... I'd say that I'm properly against the idea of a mafia cup or league (or whatever), but a man of the match award should be given for each game we play. Simple to do: make a poll after each game and record the winner.

Some games are just too fucking harsh, so we should always remember the bastards who made it memorable :D Don't bother with anything else - that's what the mafia cards are for, after all.

I think it would be great to have a more official (but still non-competitive) Man of the Match award every game - I think we should put that on the Mod thread along with the winners.

As I said before, I'd be up for the occasional low TMDI competitive game once in a while, but I'd be content with the just the MotM thing, really.

Sir Thursday
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

I think having the game competition games as a series of related games where players will get points based on their performance in each game with the overall winner being the person with most points. Would work best.

As long as Vengy NEVER gets any award EVER, I am up for it. And apologies for disapearing for the last few months but RL has taken a strange twist recently. But Vengy will never be forgivenPosted Image
