Just wondering is Nimander really Anomander Rakes first son cause the impression i get is that he is quiet young? Also that he has a daughter of his own?

Well, the Andi are a very longlived race so Nimander probably is quite old compared to "regular" people but appears young since(presumably) Tiste Andii mature more slowly.

theres a pretty strong case for it to be lady envy, who phaed claims as her mother when she talks to braven tooth on malaz island

If his parents were Lady Envy and Anomander Rake don't you think we should have seen some magery out of him? I'm not saying its impossible, but if it is I think he inherited a strange skill set.

and on a serious note i thought Nimander banged Envy. Not that that necesarily exempts him from being her son. I thought all this wqas insinuated in MOI.

I think Nimander is his son, but he picked up on Rakes way of being, that over drawing your power for everything is pointless. Of course, Rake still used his pretty often. but, then again, he did fight several wars. Nimander just is the child who wasn't taught anything, wasn't taught control over his power or his soletaken form. I mean, in MOI Korlat let her emotions let her control go when she shifted after the whiskey jack incident, and Silchas Ruin in RG spoke about how it was difficult for him to maintain his rage in his draconic form. Mind you, he stated this when they came across a K'chain Ma'chelle stronghold that got seiged by dragons, but still, these two tiste andii either let their emotions go, or admitted that it was difficult to maintain control. So, he's simply a youthful tiste andii, who probably has immense power, but is scared to use it because he might lose control and wipe out people he cares about or innocent bystanders. Who knows though.

You'll see in TTH, he ain't as helpless as he seems. He just has some motivation issues.

I'm describing 'youthful' in the means of this Tisti Andii as he has not been around the block as many times as the others who floated around moonspawn and fought wars. He was dropped on drifting island and left with Rakes broken brother, who shielded them even to the end. Even if it was with his intentions initially and then with his body. He's just not battle tested and confident as the older Andii's, who have either heightened their skills through extensive experience and training.
