Right, I've finally managed to get my arse on here! Work's being poop and unreasonably not wanting me to take the 23rd off. Possibly as they're severely short staffed (hence another lovely 9 til 9 day tomorrow) and I already have the Thursday and Friday off, but still, unreasonable I feel. Anyhoo, accordingly, Stonehenge on the Monday's looking unlikely. I'll still be around all the weekend for London though, but I figured I'd test the waters for a slight reschedule with the trip to Stonehenge on the weekend instead, so I could do that? I dunno if you have shit booked or whatever, which would probably throw a spanner into them workses, but worth a shot I thought!

Otherwise, I'll be a handy guide for part of your London experience! It's a shame you're not coming this weekend, it's the Lord Mayor's show! Better hand puppets, you will not see

Booked? Hahaha...no. I'm winging almost all of this. I have 4 nights booked at a B&B in East Croydon at the start of the trip and after that it's chaos.

Only with a bit less room... Especially if you're stuck in there for a few hours with Dancer and Illy...

Sweet beers, it's only a week away.

The closer the date gets, the more I feel like throwing up.

Going to be a helluva time.

I just PM'd you some important numbers... the Canadian Embassy, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade's traveler in distress help line, reputable criminal, civil and family/paternity lawyers in London, Amnesty International, Greenpeace and JTF2.

You can pick up an international cel' for the duration of the trip fairly cheap. Think about it, because having done backpacking with and without phone, i have to say the phone makes linking up with attractive backpackers from scandanavian countries with loose morals friends WAY easier.

You can't miss me. I have a coat with a Canadian flag patch sewn on it.

And I'll be nude from the waist down.

Mostly horror.

Yeah you should totally pick up a phone, you can get a pay as you go cell for £20 plus £10 credit, all you have to do is let us all know the number and when you call us hang up after a few rings and we'll call back, that way you won't spend any credit, you'll have a phone and it'll only cost £30 ish at the very most, a lot come with free credit.

Sounds like a plan. What's a good store to find one of these phones?

I suspect that you could more or less walk into any big mall and stop at 2-3 cell service kiosk/stores and ask. Bell and Rogers are the ones which i'm guessing would be easiest for you being where you are but i haven't needed one in a while.

If you go down Cougar's route of a UK phone, the UK phone shop that sells phones for all the networks is Carphone Warehouse. Then the most popular individual network shops are Orange, O2 and Vodafone. There are at least one of these shops on every high street, use the first convenient one and don't let the annoying phone salespeople talk you into buying anything more than a basic pay-as-you-go phone and minimum amount of credit.

My sister did something similar in the US and then sold the phone on to someone who had just arrived as she was leaving.

Mez' one way of doing it, tho i suggest it's simpler to pick up the phone at home and retunr it to the same place.

- Abyss, notes you can roam if you want tooooooo....

Whatever you decide to do, do not buy one from Toby, he'll have several, those that work will be nicked.

If you're in the UK, it's cheaper all round to have a UK phone, especially if you're gonna throw it away straight away anyway. Otherwise any calls or texts will have to fly from the UK, back to canada and then back the UK again, multiplying the cost by batfuck.

Mezla's got a point - Carphone Warehouse covers all the bets - here's a link to the Pay As You Go deals for you to take a look at.

Depressingly, this is actually true, I think I do have one or two knocking about. But they were found absolutely legally, I can assure you of that. I can also get you a cheap ps3 (I got mine with 2 games and 2 controllers for £50 iirc).

If you do get a phone, let us know and I'll send ye me number. Only a few days to go!
