It wasn't a very good one if it was: it won't be foggy, it'll be lashing down with rain, windy and with a slight chill in the air.

...I've never really traveled abroad on my own before. I've toodled around Canada and the northern US before but I had my truck and buddies. This backpacking trip is an entirely new endeavor for me. I'm excited but nervous too.
Solo backpacking is awesome fun and the UK is an easy place to get around in and the people are awesome. Plus you have a built in support structure from the forumai. AND you're from Canada so naturally everyone loves you and wants to buy you beer and/or sex.
Just accept that you won't understand a word anyone from Wales or Leeds says.
Echoing someone above, once you're there, consider crossing the channel to see some of EU - Amsterdam, for example, is quite close and a hell of a backpacker party town for no particular reason. Stereotypes aside, France is fun is ways that only snooty countries where the wine is cheaper than water can be. And Belgium, well... if tasty waffles, great fries, killer beer and stunning blond people don't appeal, clearly you should give it a miss.
You're in for a great time.

If you come to Bath I can offer you a space on my floor (no couch unfortunately),and show you the city. Of course I've just arrived myself so I don't know it too well, but I'm sure i'll have explored it a bit by the time you arrive.
Oh and I'll second the recommendation of crossing the channel and seeing a few places on the continent, ryanair generally does very cheap flights to the continent for anyone with a bit of flexibility and able to book ahead (a month ahead will usually do), for example I frequently got return flights to holland for under £10 when I was staying there.
Oh and as for abyss's belgium reccomendation, he's forgetting the chocolate

You people are fantastic. I'm going away for a week starting this Thursday but after that I'll hammer out the details on my European adventure.
I deeply appreciate all the offers and help! And I'm 75% certain customs officials will let me in the country without pants if I smile enough.

Also we could give you an interactive history lesson: Mezla could show you how excessive gin consumption in the 18th & 19th century was the ruin of the working classes.
The main interactive portion of the seminar involves you finding my shoes, holding a bucket and/or my hair back and then helping me to the work house in the morning! I have been entertaining tourists for many years now and am reliably informed it is a highlight of the UK tour. A girls gotta make a living.

Working on the details.
The busted ankle may mean the dates may be pushed back. We'll see. I will inform everyone as soon as details become clearer.

This is an official warning Rodeo. This country is dangerous. Me and Cougar met up for "a couple" of impromptu drinks last night. It is now 3pm, I am only just out of bed and forcing down a slice of toast. There has been vomiting and apparently Jim lost his lunch on the motorway. My plans for the day are completely scuppered and I am having to resort to an emergency Star Trek marathon and tea binge. I think you are up to the challenge but it would be unfair to leave you blind to the danger inherent in our culture!

I was so pissed I picked up the wrong tube when getting ready for bed and brushed my teeth with Veet hair removal cream.
I'm now feeling a lot better after having some medicinal beers. Thanks to Mezla for a cracking evening with only a marginal amount of heart breaking trauma!

Should you take up Abyss' advice and somehow find yourself in Amsterdam or anywhere within the civilized parts of the Netherlands, I'd feel more or less obliged to treat you to an evening of alcoholic sampling

I say time it for the Manky meet up - come just before, do a few things in the south, then to London about the same time as Tremmy comes. A couple days there seeing the sights with us locals and Herr Flick, and then we'll all journey up to Manchester for the meet-up. From there, you're positioned for all your northern adventures, before doing the midlands (fuck all to see there but you might want to I guess) on your way back to civilization/the south and the airport.
