I am new and from the UK!

Fascinating novels, read 1st 3 a year ago, and just picked up the 4th.
All rented though, on recommendation from some guy on a forum :)

After such a long break though, I want to read 1-3 again!
Can people recommend me the best pace to buy them in the UK?
Waterstones? eBay?

Don't you like Amazon?

I'm fine with Amazon, just asking where's best?
Do you recommend Amazon?

I get the books via my Mother-in-Law who happens to be a member of a book exchange forum. Its international so the books come from anywhere in the world, as long as I keep feeding her books to put back into the system...I get them for free.

I just started reading GotM a few weeks ago. I've been waiting for GRRM to finish A Dance with Dragons and in the meantime, figured I should start reading something else. I came across MBotF using Google. I saw a number of reviews that said it was a challenging read and felt that I was up for it. I'm still not swept away with the plot or in love with any of the characters, but I do like the writing style, and I will continue to plod through the book in hopes that it will pick up.

Also, GotM (which I enjoyed) is itself like a prologue to something way way way more awesome.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Hello all,

I started Gardens in April, and thus far have finished through Bonehunters, plus Night of Knives. I have read a lot of fantasy over the years, but for some reason had never been turned on to Erikson. I am glad that I went for it, because it has been great. I have also been lurking the forums for a couple of months, so I decided I might as well make it official.

I am from Kentucky (basketball, horse, bourbon and coal country) in the United States. I hope I can make a contribution to the forums, as they are very enjoyable.

I guess I'll have to be a little more cautious of the Kentucky jokes that spring up from time to time. :)

Welcome to Bern and Potts!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hi,

I am currently 38 and live in the UK.

I bought GotM some years ago and have kept up to date with the series ever since, including Ian C Esslemont and Bauchelain and Korbal Broach.

I read the series constantly on loop in order and am currently on Reaper's Gale for the third time. My favourite is Deadhouse Gates with Memories of Ice close behind.

When I don't have the concentration to read MBotF I like scif-fi, fantasy and horror. I am also a keen PC Gamer especially enjoying Magic: The Gathering on Steam.

This series is the best I have ever read and it makes me too daunted to write my own stuff (always an excuse!). :)

Hello all:

Picked up Gardens of the Moon three years ago, failed reading it then, picked it up a while ago and am now finishing up The Bone Hunters. Glad I made the second effort with Erikson.

Chicago native that enjoys all types of fantasy novels. I have trolled the forum and now find it helpful to have an account.

Thanks one and all for the information you have shared.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi everyone.

Been lurking for a while now but only just thought about doing the decent thing and introducing myself.

Anyways I'm from North East Scotland and work for the Post Office for my sins, oh yeah and I was a former Police Officer but after a couple of years decided it wasn't for me, that and I couldn't get used to shift work.

I am probably reiterating a point already made but I found it hard going but after persevering I have to say this is probably the best series of books I have ever read, other than 'A Song of Ice and Fire.' However I may revise that if tubby dies before finishing the series, maybe Erikson should give him pointers on sticking to deadlines, heh.

Although there is a lot of reading to this series and if they ever decide to film this there will be a lot missing actually it would have to be a TV Series because they just couldn't fit it all in, oh and the one thing they would have to change is the way(large spoiler, RG)
Spoiler

Excuse my French by the way.

Cheers, Ozzie

Hi.

I'm Padraig (pronounced pour-ick), 25 at the minute (basically 26) and i'm from the middle of Ireland.

Just finished Dust of Dreams an hour ago and thought it was time i said 'Hello!', so there it is. I've been lurking around here for the last few months, holding off on actually going through the threads until i was fully finished and, now, here i am! Really enjoyed the series as a whole and i'm already greatly anticipating the arrival of The Crippled God. Have no idea how it'll all turn out but i'm sure it'll be emotional. And i hope there's redemption and heroism, need soma that to restore my faith in (fictional and otherwise) humanity .

Nice to meet ye!
PK.

Hi.

I'm Ember. I'm 22, and I'm from western Canada. Nice to meet you.

I first picked up the series last summer and so far haven't quite finished it... I just bought Reaper's Gale (and this is shocking for me, because usually I devour books stupidly fast). I have enjoyed it immensely so far, though. I guess the fact that I'm moving through it slowly is a good thing because it'll delay the inevitable disappointment that comes with me finishing a good series (or coming to the point where I have to wait for a new book to be released, which is worse in some ways).

I am a fan of (good) fantasy in general, and I've recently started getting into horror and some comics as well. Plus I read quite a lot of nonfiction.

About me... well, currently I am taking a break from school (criminology) to earn some money (working in banking) and I enjoy drawing, reading (obviously), writing, playing piano, gaming, and metal. Anything to keep me out of the sun, I guess.

Cheers!
