Hello to all.

Was introduced to malazan by alt146 last year and never really thought of fantasy the same way again.

Live in South Africa. Still at university. 23 years old (trying to beat van wilder)

I've read a lot of other fantasy and happen to be one of the few who enjoyed the thomas covenent books.

Joined 2 days ago and just wanted to say hi, also i'm a noob but can i start blaming brood already?

First things first: Yes. Blame Brood.

Secondly, lots of people like Covenant.

Thirdly, you'll have to do a lot better than 23 to beat Apt, the perpetual student.

Fourth: Welcome!

He's refering to the fact that he's given his tattered old copy of The First Chronicles to like 15 people and none of them read past the second book (myself included).

Huh. I really liked The Ilearth War. That's the problem with you youngsters and your hip fantasy like MBotF. No appreciation for your elders.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Greetings and salutations

im on my second read through (up to MoI now) and im still amazed at the things id forgotten id already read and how much insight he actually gives if you read closely. I do appreciate how SE keeps the reader in the Dark though too and lets us draw our own conclusions (sometimes falsely).

Hi there, I'm new to the web, but i have read all the Erikson books i could find. I have just finished reading " Return of thr Crimson Guard " . I have enjoyed the books sometimes rooting for the Malazans sometimes hoping they would get their asses kicked. I don't know why the old guard keep defending the empire.

Hello Ossian and welcome.

I'm sure if you head over to the book forums some of the smelly "old guard" members will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. :D

Enjoy.
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Hi all,

Long time forum/wiki reader finally got round to making an account.

I actually read or began reading the books about 4 years ago then had a gap, read Reapers Gale a month back and kept thinking to myself I was missing some details which I put down to not having read the series for a while so started upon a re-read before Toll... and what do I notes, my copy of Midnight Tides is in near pristine condition and has never been read which actually explains a lot :D so here I am reading through the series a second time and joining in with some forum fun along the way.

The Good Kruppe Has Something to Bray!

Greetings from good Kruppe to one and all! His unbounded delight at being here cannot be adequately expressed in words, but Kruppe shall make the monumental effort to do so, as is his wont.

Kruppe is new to The Malazan Book of the Fallen, having discovered it only recently, and has but read the first three volumes. Nevertheless, Kruppe is so impressed with those engrossing tomes that it shall not be long before he has voraciously devoured the remainder, along with any and all ancillary works by the good Mr. Erikson.

Kruppe does not lightly bestow his much sought after endorsement on a work of history, but he has been ensorcelled mightily by these astounding works of wordsmithery.

Kruppe has, in (for him) as few words as possible, been rendered next to speechless. Such is the astonishing power of these praiseworthy books. Kruppe finds himself laughing on nearly each and every page.

Kruppe is here to share friendly fellowship and scrumptious vittles with each and all, so long as his purse is not sadly lightened by those who would take advantage of Kruppe's exceedingly generous nature by expecting him to actually tender genuine coin to pay for such food and drink. The very idea makes Kruppe's brow as moist with perspiration as a maiden's upper lip who has already lost her maidenhood on the night before the night before her wedding night.

The Good Kruppe Has Spewed!

Kruppe is so not an alternate account. The very idea is absurd to a degree astronomical in nature and cannot be seriously countenanced. None here that Kruppe has encountered thus far are even remotely capable of adequately capturing Kruppe's sublime aura, his superhuman ability to gently but firmly turn a phrase, nor mime his near thaumaturgic skill with and mastery of (to Kruppe) the alien and most peculiar English tongue. No, not a one.

To recap: Kruppe is not an alt. Kruppe is Kruppe.
