Hey everyone :killingme: Call me Sera, I'm 21 and a psychology student. My forum presence will be fairly restricted as I'm only half way through House of Chains and I don't want to stumble on any spoilers! Thought I'd seek this place out as my best friend recommended the books to me but can't remember anything that happened pre-Toll the Hounds *sigh* and I do get excited about discussing books. Now uni's over for the summer, I'll do my best to catch up :)

So that means you don't know Kruppe usurped the Queen of Dreams and sent Fiddler into a sleep he'll never wake from?

And that Ganoes touches Heboric and thus becomes the new Fener and rules the world, owning all others in it?

Just stay out of the forums for the books you haven't finished yet, and you'll be fine, no spoilers. There's plenty of fun to be had at the Inn, where there is no book discussion at all.

Greetings All,

I'm a film and video editor in Toronto, Canada; a huge fan of fantasy fiction and RPGs, and ambient music. All my wife and I do is read and play games and watch movies and laugh (it's like two 6 year olds got married ;p).

SE is my favourite author, in any genre, and I'm thrilled, in my time travel, to have stumbled across this forum. I look forward to many hours of discussion and analysis of these books that we love so much.

Have a calm day!

Hello

I live and work in London, UK. Until recently I hadn't read any fantasy novels in years then, a few weeks back, I was browsing the sci-fi/fantasy section in Waterstones at Piccadilly while waiting for a friend and noticed Toll The Hounds. The artwork made me take a closer look. I have been known to judge a book by its cover in the past but this time I made a note of SE's name and went away and did some research, read some reviews, made sure I started at the beginning etc etc.

In the last couple of weeks I have read Gardens of The Moon and last night finished Deadhouse Gates. Today I'll be moving on to Memories of Ice. Looks like I'm hooked - I can't remember the last time I was this excited about reading something.

Don't be surprised if I come up with some silly questions as my journey continues!

Welcome to a fellow Londoner. At last, someone to share with in the mocking of the north.

Don't be silly, no-one in London actually supports Chelsea!

It's like no United fans in Manchester, or Liverpool fans in Liverpool.

Incidentally, please do tell us you're not a Chelsea fan. :p :p

Hell no, I work with too many Chelsea fans who all seemed to come out of the woodwork after Mourinho's arrival :p: I'm from Guernsey, so no real local team, although we kind of had to follow Matt Le Tiss. Most of my cousins supported Liverpool, though, so I grew up supporting Man Utd just to spite them - which was pretty difficult in those days seeing as Utd had just got relegated :p

Thanks for the welcomes :)

Hello to all.

Was introduced to malazan by alt146 last year and never really thought of fantasy the same way again.

Live in South Africa. Still at university. 23 years old (trying to beat van wilder)

I've read a lot of other fantasy and happen to be one of the few who enjoyed the thomas covenent books.

Joined 2 days ago and just wanted to say hi, also i'm a noob but can i start blaming brood already?

First things first: Yes. Blame Brood.

Secondly, lots of people like Covenant.

Thirdly, you'll have to do a lot better than 23 to beat Apt, the perpetual student.

Fourth: Welcome!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
