Hi, I'm The Writer. I have read only Night of Knives, Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gates. I read the first two twice and this is my third time attempting to read the entire series (Esselmont books too). It wasn't boredom or confusion that stopped me the first two times; the first time was a new baby and the second time a divorce. What I know of this series, I love.

I was a member for years during high school. I never managed to stay very active, although I am currently in the middle of a full series re-read. I am hoping to keep active on the boards this time around. This is a new account as i could not even remember the details of my old one. Im glad to see familiar faces still around though

Hey guys. I'm a new member. Started reading the books in hs then stopped because they were just too gritty for me then (Same thing happened to
me with GoT). Picked up WoT instead. However, once my taste for gritty fantasy matured some I got back into this. Loving it!

Hello all, not quite a new member but have never introduced myself. Fantasy is not exactly my favourite genre (far from it I find fantasy is usually trite, poorly written cliche ridden tripe with oh so few very honourable exceptions (Donaldson, Abercrombie etc) but these books are my all time favourite books. Superbly written, anything but cliched and emotionally crippling at times (the chain of dogs springs to mind). On my 5th re-read and STILL getting new stuff out of each re-read.
Kallor said: 'I walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I have commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I have spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this? 'Yes,' said Caladan Brood, 'you never learn.

New here. Trying to use this site on iPad, not sure how practical it is. Anyway, hurrah for Malaz! And Wu!
I'm about 200 pages into Blood and Bone. Probably should have signed up on here long before I reached the 15th Malazan book I've read. But, I've read some interesting ideas on here, figured I may be able to contribute. Hope so anyway.

Another Malazan fan belatedly joining in the discussion. I am going to start Dust of Dreams pretty soon and am really stoked to do so! Malazan is my favorite series and has been very influential to my writing. Brandon Sanderson, George Martin, and Robin Hobb are my three other favorites.

Welcome to all the new people! Be free with your questions and remember to use book quotes when you're able.

In real life, too. "Hood's marble balls on an anvil!"

Hello!

I've actually just picked up the series. Bought GotM about 2 weeks back and halfway through it decided to buy the next 2! Yes, GotM is confusing me as well. That's actually why I joined the forum...as a preemptive strike on any further confusion! But I think it's just the massive scope of the World Steven Erikson has created that seems a bit daunting at first. And these types of books are never meant to be read only once.

Anywho, just wanted to say hello!

Hello!
I've tried steering clear of these forums for fear of spoilers, but I too happen to possess the curse of curiosity (and honesty too, for that matter). Currently reading Dust of Dreams and have been loving every bit of the series so far (the timeline is not important, remember?)

Hey there.
I have joined the forums just a few minutes ago, after finally finishing Blood And Bone and the only thing left for me is Forge of Darkness.
Decided to join up well, i don't really know what made me, even tho i have been visiting the forums in the past when ever i had a question. So here i am :crybaby:
So far i can say that everything concerning the Malazan universe is well... incredible, every ending left me speechless.
So these are my few lines for my introduction.

Hi folks.

I just joined. I also just started "Memories of Ice". I'm loving these books so much that I had to find a place with some like minded souls.

I'm 42, a lab tech, part time musician, and certified geek of all trades from Kansas City.

I probably won't post much but will continue to lurk and read stuff as I plow through these books. This is some of the tastiest epic fantasy I've ever read.

My favorite novel of all time is Cormac Mccarthy's "Blood Meridian". I only mention this because I loved "Deadhouse Gates" so much, and it reminds me of "Blood Meridian" except that it has some genuine heroes.

Cheers to all!

Tiste Andy

hello all,

i originally posted in the other "New Members Start Here" thread, but I started reading MBotF 3 months ago and I am currently reading the fourth book in the series HoC. I love the series and I would love to see what some of you guys/gals have to say about some of my confusions and ideas about the books thus far. I look forward to hearing from you.

been stalking this forum since DoD came out

i'm in my early 20s , a tech consultant and a computer retail shop owner
living in a third world country where i can't trace a single book-store selling SE and ICE brilliant work ( hence amazon is the only option and it doesn't come cheap)

Hello Lads n Lasses! I´m new here and I just started reading MBotF/GotM and I´m about 100 pages in. I just have to say this, never has a book before made me want to discuss it online. I´ve read some fantasy before but I can already see there´s just too much good stuff in this sh*t that you just can´t go along by yourself with it. Discussion of this series is top notch. I´m already in love with the characters, the battles, the world and the dialouges. This will be epic. You must think, why am at this forum now and doesn´t read? Well, I´m at work so I just sneaked away to the office a little

Rickard from Sweden, 28 years old. Love music, (shoegaze, indie-rock, dreampop) drinking beer, hanging out with friends, go to festivals. I work with kids in trouble, dunno the title in english, treatmenteducator? :D
See you at the forums later on!

Hello. I'm a pretty avid reader of fantasy and have no clue how I somehow missed this series. I was actually looking for some Black Company stuff on the Internet and stumbled on some reviews for Malazan and it sounded right up my alley. Was then able to grab the first 9 at a used book store and I have since jumped right into Gardens of the Moon. I can't say "I'm loving it!" just for the simple fact that I'm only on book 6ish ( EDIT: actually book 3, chapter 8 of GotM, not actually 6 whole books) (just got a little into the "D" city, can't remember the darn spelling) (EDIT: Darujhistan, yeah, that one) but I can say that it's everything that I would hope for this early into the story. Glad to be here and see such a large and active forum. I'll be dropping in to ask questions and take part in discussion. Thanks.
