Witness! Literally just now finished Orb Sceptre Throne, now only have Forge of Darkness and Blood and Bone left. My life goals are to revive Stargate SG-1, set the record for the most chicken eaten in a lifetime and do a detailed step by step cause and effect chart/diagram of the primary Malazan storyline. The Stargate thing requires funding, chicken is an individual thing, but I am open for help on the latter (translate: in desperate need of help as I am yet to even choose a font ! Madness !)

Teal'c: I do?
Daniel: Yes
Teal'c: Indeed.

Well, Greetings to all! I am currently on "Memories of Ice". I love the series. This is probably the most sophisticated epic fantasy books I have ever read. Extremely complex. I love them.

The art of losing isn't hard to master. So many things are filled with the intend to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

And a hearty "Hallooo!" to all ya all...

I first encountered this tragically beautiful world many ages passed when I found the newly released Deadhouse Gates on the shelf of my local [REDACTED FOR REASONS OF COMMERCIAL INSECURITY]. Not being one to leap mid-stream into a series, I left the book where I'd found it and carried on my merry way. The book continued to sit upon the shelf for many a week, as it was in fact the first book of the series to arrive in this far-flung 'burg I call home, and I was forced to order Gardens of the Moon myself.

It took many years for me to finish the series with many stops and starts but I always remained true and encouraged numerous souls to read these astounding fantasies. While I can't say that the Malazan Book of the Fallen is my favorite story I can say that reading it has not left me unchanged and that is what makes it great literature...

I want to personally express my gratitude to both Mr. Erikson and Mr. Esslemont for creating this amazingly rich world and to all of the others out there whose love and dedication allow these men to tell their tales in this world.

Hi guys

Just a quick one to say hi. I've read through the series for the first time this year and it's taken me 4 months at a book a week. I finished FoD last night. Loved it.

Just BaB to go now and I'm then going to have to go back to the start and read through again. There has to be so much I've missed.

My favourite characters in MBoTF were Brys and Onos/Tool, I felt the character development we saw for Tool was awesome and his rebirth in DoD is my favourite passage in the entire series.

Anyhow I look forward to discussing the books with all fellow Malazan lovers.

Hello everyone. As you can tell by my username, my name is Mitch. I've only read GotM and about 400 pages of Deadhouse Gates and I LOVE this series so far. I'm enjoying more than Lord of the Rings which is really the only other fantasy series I have read. These books are definitely my kind of books. I look forward to getting to know everybody!

Heya, thought I'd say hello. These books and the fan artwork have become an unhealthy obsession for me now. When will the graphic novel equivalent exist!!!!!!?

Hey guys,

I'm technically not new here, seeing as I already made a topic a couple of months back, though I haven't being active at all, even actively lurking but now I feel like I want to be an actual contributing member to this forum, and the best place to start would be here.

I guess since this is an introduction thread, I should introduce myself.

I discovered the Malazan series quite by accident last year. A friend of mine had given me 12gb worth of e-books and once I had categorized and sorted all of them(using Calibre) I saw the series and it had eight books under it(I feel I should mention that I had no one to guide me in my introduction to the series and I feel I was both blessed and suffered for it). At first I didn't read it all thanks to the godawful cover of Gardens of the moon but one day I just said to hell with it and started reading it. Yeah that didn't go well as by the third chapter I was so hopelessly lost I just couldn't bring myself to continue. The thing was whatever I had read stuck with me and as months went by I would always go back to it remembering terms like warrens. So I decided that whether I understood it or not I would plow through it . I did and it wasn't until Darujhistan that things started making sense to me and I guess you could say the rest is glorious wonderful history(The series was something so drastically different from anything else that I couldn't help but fall in love with it and I don't regret it). On a side note how do you guys manage to convince people to go through GOTM when you're trying to introduce them to the series?

I don't think I have read as extensively as alot of the members here and its something I would wish to remedy. However I have read and enjoyed, The Way of Kings(I had actually just finished reading it before discovering Malazan and I thought it was the best fantasy I had ever read, yeah I was wrong), Song of Ice and fire, Lies of locke Lamora, anyhting Guy gavriel kay, Night angel, the awesome Dresden files, Harry potter, The magician and others that I can't remember right now. Point is I thought I had read lot, well I lurked here for half an hour and discovered what is quickly becoming my favorite series, Shadow of the apt series. Now I think of all the rest I can discover and I feel warm inside.

This would be the third forum I have ever joined and I think one of the last and I think because of that I have been a little insulated when it comes to the broader internet(not sure whether I explained that correctly) meaning that thanks to those forums, I have never visited sites like 9gag or reedit or Tv tropes or 4chan and much more.(I don't think that point had any relevance).

Well the other forum being a forum that you could say was built on promoting and writing excellent Harry potter fanfiction. Before you laugh at how stupid it is to read fanfiction I sure that there are excellent stories, written by brilliant people out there and I would gladly point you towards some if you like. I little confession my main reason for ever visiting the internet periodically was for the fanfiction and as I have said I was only a member(still am) of that one particular forum I never knew just how much fanfiction was looked down upon and I think had I known way back then the negativity towards it,I am ashamed to say I would have stopped reading but now I know that 98% of whats out there is utter garbage but its the 2% that makes it all worth it for me. Yeah so I guess what I wanted to say was, I love good well written fan fiction(and thanks to DLP I always get that).

Second, I love anime and I particularly Love One piece, I could write entire pages why I love it, so I'll leave it at I love One Piece. Other anime's I have enjoyed have ranged from Baccano to Hajimme no ippo to FMA:Brotherhood to FLCL to welcome to the N.H.K.

I guess that's it. Sorry if I was not supposed to write all that, its a habit that I just can't seem to shake. I am happy to be here and hope to have a wonderful experience here.

BEST EPIC FANTASY SERIES EVER! After getting that out of my system, hello all. I finally decided to join after a long time of reading the forum, so that I could try and understand these mind-boggling books. Looking forward to discussing the books and getting to know everyone.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
