The methodic tapping of a silver tipped cane reaches your ears. You look into the mist but see nothing, just shadows. Miniscule droplets of water hit your face as you peer through the shroud and then you see him. A hunched over, hooded figure making his way slowly towards you. His slow, rasping breaths reach your ears; behind him, through the mist comes another hooded figure. This one, much taller than the other, stepped with a lightfooted grace. They both stop ten feet from where you are standing and the one with the cane cackled.

Good day to my fellow... fellows hehe.

I'm glad to have found this place as I love the Malazan books (of the fallen :p ). I am not remotely new to forums or fantasy but recently with school I have had less time for them. I am no longer part of any community but this one and I intend to be a contributing part of this fine board.

Abit about me you ask? I shall not disappoint:

I'm 19 years old and live on the West Coast of Canada. I am in college studying business and hope to be a sports agent after I graduate. I read (everything from biographies of business leaders, to history, to any fantasy series you can imagine), and I write (whether its my own creation or RPing, I love role playing which I hope to do here).

As for my history of forums well:

I started posting four years ago on the Terry Brooks forums.

Then I created my own forum which still runs today though I no longer run it (www.theoldforest.com)

Then I co-created a role playing forum based in the Forgotten Realms. I still am admin there but I only check up on it every now and then (www.faerunrp.com/forums).

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and feel free to ask more about me if you wish.
I have returned anew, wistfully my course holds true.

Hello everyone!
Been a SE fan for a while but just recently found this site.
I'm from Sweden and loves pretty much all kind of fantasy, from Pratchett to Robert Jordan. I also play some PC games when I find the time. I like mmorpgs but I have a hard time to find enough time to play, I've been playing Age of Conan for a while now, but haven't gotten beyond lvl 35!

I'm really glad to have found this site, and you all seem like people!

Hi all

A quick introduction :pizza: I'm Mark, 28 from Caernarfon, Wales. I love reading (obviously!), although I am much more of a sci-fi fan than fantasy, but I'm trying to change that at the moment to get a more even mix. Favourite authors are Peter F Hamilton (I run a fan site at www.theunisphere.com) and Neal Asher but read pretty much whatever I find that sounds good. I also run a blog that gives me an output for the reading I do, which is great because I get to recommend any books that I think are worthwhile

One of the main reasons that I've come across this site is because I've recently started Night of Knives which I'm quite enjoying. I know I've got a lot of reading ahead of me with this series, but if this one book ios anything to go by I'll be kept entertained throughout

Oooh, someone from Wales - yeah! I think that makes about 6 of us...

Welcome, and you have lots of goodies in store if you are on NoK. Don't listen to me though...I'm the least knowledgeable person on here. :pizza:

And a big welcome to all other newbies, most of whom probably have a higher post count than me already!
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Hello all,

Im Indonesian working in Paris. I'm on the 5th book now, so I've got 3 books to read (haven't buy Toll the Hounds yet).
I love fantasy, but for me up until now Malazan series is the best. I've got some other books that I havent read yet, but all of them have to wait until I finished the Malazan series.

Kind regards,

How do I add a signature to my posts? I'm a massive SF/F fan from south wales and any recomendations for current/future books would be greatly appreciated.

Most welcome Spaz.
1. Check the Merry Manky Malazan thread in this stickied section.
2. All profile adjustments are made in the 'My Controls' section, see top right of any screen on the forums. Some need the authority gained by posting 100+ posts in the book forums (the inn and games forums don't count), other, already adjustable ones, need some trial and error tactics, like mine. You think I wanted to be labelled an alcoholic? Ok, yeah! Too late to deny it now (shut up HD!).
3. My condolences.
4. Dust of Dreams, The Crippled God, Return of the Crimson Guard, and Stonewielder all somehow instantly spring to mind. :D

:D

New member here. Almost finished with TtH, ordered Night of Knives off Amazon. I love the Malazan series, but am a much bigger fan and enjoy the ASOIAF books more. I'm mostly here to get help on clarifying a lot of the unknowns in the series thus far.
