I started following this forum shortly (by shortly I mean when I finished the book) after I saw the "scary mob" comment upon importing Reaper's Gale from amazon.uk.
Y'all are quite adept at pointing things out that I missed. Thanks. I like you bastards.

Welcome to all the new people! Great to have new brains to feed abyss! And don't worry, he/she/it uses a straw and is quite debonaire about his eating habits.

Seriously though, welcome. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the series.

Greetings! I only just finished Deadhouse Gates, so I am hesitant to get too involved and spoil future plots and storylines, but I was just so floored by the first two books that I had to find other people who had read the series. I can't, as of yet, get anyone else to read them - I must be a godawful sales person lol. I try to tell them how complex the plot and characters are, how nothing is spelled out, how the author assumes you have enough intelligence to follow along and has no remorse if he leaves you in the dust (I have had to re-read many a page myself lol!)...but I only get feigned interest in response. Oh well, I am glad I am no longer alone and can share with others who have immersed themselves in this rich, complicated world(s). I haven't even played WoW the last two nights in order to finish Deadhouse Gates (poor Duiker...goodness that whole story was tragic beyond words).

Hi everyone, I have read all the books thus far (Except for FoD) and have prowled in some of the forums before but not as a member. I am currently on reread number 3 up to Reaper's Gale and have finally been bothered to join. I hope I enjoy it here.

Hi, guys. I just started reading the first book last week. I'm at page 170 and reading pretty slowly because I want to make sure I don't miss out on details and because I'm also busy with school (not really an auspicious time to read lengthy series). I read the A Song of Ice and Fire series and Lord of the Rings in the summer. I loved A Song of Ice and Fire, but didn't really like the simplicity of the plot of Lord of the Rings. I picked this up as a recommendation on some site as a way to pass the time while GRRM finishes writing his 6th book.

Anyway, the first book is decent so far. I'm a bit overwhelmed as some of the universe's traits seems a bit obfuscated to me (Warrens and Tattersail's deck of cards and the different houses), but hopefully those become more clear as I progress with the story. I have been perusing the chapter summaries for the first book after every chapter to make sure I understand the plot movement.

Hello, my name is Schatalow (obviously lol). I am new on this site, well actually 11 days new, and haven't posted anything yet. This is my first post EVER. So, i hope you guys won't be afraid to get to know me  I have read some of the Malazan Empire series, including Night of Knives, The Return of The Crimson Guard, Gardens of the Moon, and Dead House Gates (currently reading DHGs). So far this series, although being somewhat hard to follow, is very interesting and I'm glad I had picked up GotM off the shelf at Chapters :twoguns:

Welcome, Schatalow, ashadowbetween, Xaravir, Harlest.

As the undisputed liege of this deluded back alley of the internet, I welcome you. I, however, take upon myself the task of warning you. This is a cesspool filled with mad, deluded fanatics, worshipping the UberOverlord Erikson. Beware! Your sanity (not your life) is truly at risk. I am the only sane member of this deluded planetoid. Hasten to my fold and fear not to ask of me help that you need though I am oft ineligible in converse.

Welcome.

Welcome newbies! You'll notice there is the odd nutjob hanging around the forum, as above.

Feel free to beat 'em or join 'em.

Been reading this forum for the last few weeks - waiting to finish Orb Sceptre Throne prior to posting. Have read, and absolutely loved I must add, all the books in the series apart from the new Erikson one.

So hello to all here.

Edit: Great forum and posts guys - been reading the Orb Sceptre Throne forum for the last few hours. Think I'll have to re-read all the other books before I read the other threads on those books.

Hey thanks Loki (would you believe Mass Effect 3 has been sitting unplayed on my shelf for months now - waiting to play Dragon Age 2 and Skyrim first - too busy to get some game time this year).

You'd delay in order to play Skyrim first?

I know!! - but it's been ages since I've played Oblivion. I have yet to play Arkham City and Gears 3 too. So many games not enough time. I'm still waiting for the Malazan RPG to come out (crosses fingers) or an animated series.

Also, why do people in this forum use some many damn acronyms? Are people too lazy to write full words anymore? SE wrote TotH then IE wrote SW and blah blah... The English language has gone to s***.

/rant over.

Edit: just posted this after trying to read through the threads and from being confused with all the acronyms and having to look them up.

You too lazy to look up acronyms without complaining?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
