I re-read 1 to 8 before moving on to the last two. I may need something a bit less dense for now. Perhaps some David Eddings?

That's not just less dense, that's damn near ethereal!

Still, if you're looking for recommendations, for simple but good - try the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. there's a sub-forum within the "Other Literature" board extolling the virtues of the series.

Be warned though - his books are pretty addictive. The nickname around the forum is Dresdencrack......
meh. Link was dead :(

What kind of stuff?

Also, careful about reading threads in "General Book Topics" or whatever it's called, since you're only on Midnight Tides. That subforum's full of spoilers.

Hey people, been an Erikson fan for 5 or 6 years now, and finished the series a few days after crippled god came out in the uk. I've known about this page for quite a while but never joined, (mostly because I've never joined a forum before and I'm a coward when it comes to the internet) I've now decided to grow a pair and become a member so i actually have someone to talk to about how awesome the series is. btw, its getting quite hard to come up with a malazan related name, I had to go through the whole dramatis persona to find one that I liked and was available...

YES!!! FIRST FORUM POST EVER!! Posted Image

Don't let this board spoil you though. It's one of the nicer corners of the internet, especially for a board with such non-anal retentive mods. It's a jungle out there.

Hello!

Just finished The Crippled God and still (meaning, as from the first few pages of Gardens of the Moon) so impressed with the series that I thought I'd hang around here for a bit :p

Having been an avid reader of most fantasy epics, I was perusing the the fantasy section of Amazon, forlornly hoping to find an addition to the genre I would enjoy reading. It was then that I stumbled upon the Malazan series for the first time. Suffice it to say that I blew it off at first glance, and instead began some other nameless fantasy book. TALK ABOUT THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!! I have since remedied all previous failings, by devoting myself to finishing the series, and I felt that a part of my penance should be spent here making it up to all of you. :ice:
I love this series, and hope to god that many new editions to this epic will be made in the years to come.
"When I left him, I reasoned thus with myself: I am wiser than this man, for neither of us appears to know anything great and good; but he fancies he knows something, although he knows nothing; whereas I, as I do not know anything, so I do not fancy I do. In this trifling particular, then, I appear to be wiser than he, because I do not fancy I know what I do not know." -Plato's account of Socrates' trial.

Purchased DEADHOUSE GATES in 2001 0r 2002 and it went from there. Still reading Crippled God atm. Just want to be able to talk about the books and other stuff as my circle of friends doesn't really get into this.

Hey, all. Started the series in 2001. Just finished TCG. Needless to say, MBotF is my favorite book series, and has some of my favorite individual books in it. Waiting for my friends to finish up...they are on RG and DoD, so just wanted to hang and talk with other folks that have finished the series. Going to read Stoneweider after I finish The Heroes by Joel Abercrombie.

Hey! Just thought I'd make my obligatory first forum post by saying I read the entire series in 3 weeks back in May. I'm working on a reread, but Deadhouse Gates keeps slowing me down. I keep rereading it everytime I finish one of the others.

This is normal. Rereading DG is always time well spent.

Welcome Starvarld D!

The forum is an awesome place to ask question, discuss opinions and try to figure out just what the hell was/is going on :p

If you're not interested in any silly business I suggest you stay clear of the Inn ;)

Finding this site makes me ashamed I haven't read the series in its entirety. Maybe hanging around here will inspire me to read the last two books. Who knows. Or I will get distracted by something else and forget. It's usually how it goes.
