Woah! We're really upping the number of females this year. All these civilians are going to wake up suffering post-SFF stress syndrome.

Yes, it'll make up for the usual sausage-fest.

Although, you do all have a mission to persuade Mr PigDog to start reading the series. He gave up after 1 chapter of GotM.

Fuck that, we aren't being responsible for ruining someone else's life. Pretty difficult anyway, since the nearest we've come to discussing the books in the last 5 meet-ups was trying to work out how big Karsa's cock is.

Well if you are discussing issues as large as this who am I to stay away. I'll probably nip up on the train from Liverpool and then try and make either the last train home or the first one back the following morning... I am not adverse to being the drunk guy in Manchester Picadilly Train Station at 3am :)

So count me in... but could someone remind me closer to the time as I am useless at remembering these things.

Ah crap - just realised those hotels were dorms! Thnx for the great link Hetan!

I will be staying at Gardens Hotel 55 Piccadilly. :)

It's a good hotel, and perfectly situated for the meetup. Unless you're unlucky and get one of the rooms on the front wall, which will make it noisy and very very bright...

Cougar - could you post a roll-call at some time please? I'm really looking forward to the meet-up now - particularly as we are going to be there on the Friday night as well this year. :)

As requested here are the people who have said they are definitely coming, don't ask about sleeping arrangements at the moment, we are having some logistical issues which we will have solved as soon as possible. If you ummed and ahhhed earlier I haven't included you in this list. If you are coming and aren't on the list then say:

Hetan & Mal
Mezla & Mr PigDog
Cougar & Mrs C
Grumble
Broody
Rodeo
Stone Monkey
Dag
Toby
Tremmy
Fid
Ribald
Imperial Historian

@ Ribald: I'm not your fucking Mum, write it in your diary, tattoo it on your penis or just remember.

Everyone else, normally we just wing it, but with 15 plus people coming along we are going to have to plan it a bit tihis year as we won't be able to just stroll around and be certain of getting in places or finding a place that will feed 15 or more people. So make sure you eat before you come out, Mezla's suggestion about grabbing a snack at the Christmas market might not be a bad idea as it makes life a bit easier, but we'll have to pick somewhere earlyish to stay all night and stick with it as the 12th will be a busy weekend in Manc.

The only other thing to note is that we'll probably kick off at 1pm and we'll have a a couple of hours at the meeting spot, generally Kro Piccadilly for ease of access. We'll then move on, maybe stroll around the Christmas market in Albert Square, those who think it's shit can go into a pub and wait for Mezla to finish shopping and hunting sausage, which should take us to 6pm then we need to make a move to where we are going to spend the evening. Previous eforts have included the fab.

I'll need to know what time you'll get there. When I have final numbers I will PM all the participants with more details.

I have just realised that my Viva is the day before the meet-up so there is no fear of me forgetting it and thus thankfully I will not need to permanently decorate my genitalia. On the other hand I am likely to be so hungover that I will resemble an Imass.
Looking forward to it though.

The best way to cure a hangover is to just start drinking again. Think of us as your doctors...

I'd be more terrified of what certain individuals of "this lot" (cough Brood cough) will do to you when you're hammered.

And by look after, she does of course mean vomit on you. It is her way.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

What, they are not on your christmas card list any longer?

@Brood: Thank you for the info. Single rooms are notorious for being among the worst of the worst. But I will be too drunk to care anyway. :-)

And that is a nice list! With so many ppl would it perhaps be an idea to make reservations at a eating place before just showing up en masse?

Why is Lightweight Macros not coming?... although two Irishmen might be one too many...:p

I think Trem has the right idea.. if we're going dog hunting we need barfing material.
Are there any chinese buffets or places that aren't ridiculously expensive that we could book into? That place we ate at last year wasn't horrendously priced was it?
And I vote for fab because it's done us proud for a few years now, plus the clientele make me feel normal and non-geeky :D
