Wow ! Blowing on games consoles?

Try using a pen to untangle the tape of your cassette copy of Commando cos' its jammed around the heads of the single deck tape recorder you are using to load it onto your Spectrum 48k, then if successful, waiting 20 minutes for the fucker to load ! :p

My cousin still has a ZX Spectrum which had a 1k memory, I think they were the first commercial home PC in Britain ? although I could be wrong ( BBC Micro rings a bell) i believe it is now worth a few quid.

Ah..., playground squabbles over who could load "Elite" the fastest and why regardless of whose computer you played on "Afterburner" always crashed at the same point.

Good times ! We were living in the Space Age !!! ;)
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

I remember our first computer that my parents bought. it was made by Atari, because their friend assured them that this was the wave of the future, soon Atari would dominate the computer market.

Hm. I missed this?
I remember most of that stuff, with the exception of cartridge consoles (never had one myself, was LEGO and world atlas for me for fun!), modem internet (was too expensive to get, started years later with a 256 kbps broadband), pre-online banking (no money of my own as a kid! also not had an acocunt as a teenager and student, all in cash) and twist motion TV controls (the oldest one for me had 4 buttons on it!)

I actually do miss the old problems with communication. Mobile phones and social media really took out something there. It's like places stopped to matter completely. Used to be nice to catch someone at their home phone or actually at home when you were in the area and dropped by - now we get infuriated when someone isn't answering their cell. Most certainly people were meeting more face to face.
Letters... well, after one particularly important summer of my early teen life I got a physical, handwritten letter... I even wrote a response, but I never posted it. I do wonder how is the girl doing nowdays...

@ Mezla - My friend buys the smallest Ipods, makes a mix, and gives them as gifts. I think that's an awesome gift idea.

The photo thing is probably the bad one. People are storing their digital photos on technology that will soon be antiquated and not making physical albums. A good number of peopel will lose their photo history.

As for the last couple, this is a little elitest. There will always be people who can't afford personal cellphones with international calling capability- until that becomes free, or cell phones in general.
