I like it, the style makes it look like it's a picture in a Malaz bestiary, or some book on Baruk's shelf.

You could do a lot like that, actually - same 'page' style, with pics of enk'ral, wyval, dhenrabi etc.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Couple of things:

I think the picture would look better with some back, and in motion, soaring above a battlefield, or coral or mott wood etc.

I think the stillness of the picture makes it look rather odd, in particular the tail being held out behind perfectly straight.

Brilliant work as usual though :)

yeah, that might come later. I just wanted to do a simple character concept and make it look as if it was taken out of a book or something:)

It'll be after my Trygalle-piece, which might take some time:P

and thank you:)

That was what I was going for, actually:D

That's not a bad idea, not a bad idea at all. I can make a whole collection and it probably won't take me too long either if I just keep the same style, as this one was quite simple. But it'll have to be after the Trygalle and Moranth dive-bombing demon condors are done :p

Version two is great - they are meat-eaters and you have captured that fact in giving them vicious looking mandibles and forelegs. I still picture them as much bigger though.

Very nice! More or less exactly as it should be - I don't know how I know this but my conviction is absolute that it's not just that we picture them as giant dragonflies - they are in fact meant to be giant dragonflies - mighta been a conversation I had with Steve or Cam...anyway, well done :unworthy:

Thank you:)

yes, people always imagine things differently, which is why painting Malazan stuff is so much fun. Some people love what you've done, other light the torches and bring out the pitchforks :p

I don't think I've ever had as large a consensus on any painting as this one...which is cool:)
