In Midnight Tides, in a Udinaas vision, Rake gave Osserc a good beating offpage, during his talk with the sisters.
If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

Right?

Regarding the tusks I would go with one of two thoughts. First, simply that it is somehow a manifestation of his soletaken form. To be honest I can't remember everything from either instance, but both Spite in BH and Rake in TtH are described as having elements of their draconic forms while remaining somewhat humanoid. Slightly offtopic: If this state is common or represents control based on proficiency it might help explain Ryllanderas' seemingly inconsistent form.

My problem with this has to do with consistency in the Malaziworld. I'm tempted to call it an ICEism. SE keeps his descriptions fairly consistent. If he mentions offhand that something has tusks, he pretty much means us to infer that there is Jaghut somewhere in that being's history(do any other races have tusks?)

If we're to go with the assumption that Gods like Osserc assume part of their Soletaken form in their humanoid forms, then I would fully expect him to be lighter in color, or have fangs, or have the nub of a tail showing through his breeches - not have tusks. In the Malaziworld thus far, tusks = Jaghut.

I think somewhere in DG someone is describing Mappo and Icarium and states that Mappo's tusks are possibly even bigger than Icarium's. They weren't real tusks tho, just oversized teeth. So its possible ICE was doing something like that, describing some vicious looking incisors as tusks.
So, you're the historian who survived the Chain of Dogs.
Actually, I didn't.

It seems you stand alone.
It was ever thus.

Actually, given the talking up Rake has received recently, I think he's pretty much Osserc's superior. I can't find the quote, but isn't it stated somewhere that they clashed many times, and though neither of them ever *won*, Rake was always the victor? Not to mention they usually made up after it...even if "after" is several thousand years. XD

That's from Menandore and Sukul Ankhadu in the same Udinaas vision from MT (after Osserc leaves) - they note that Rake and Osserc clash a lot, but neither has ever finished off the other, and speculate that it is because "they wish the game to continue" or something like that.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
