Agree with Abyss above.

Furthering the Coin-Bearer bit - basically, being a tool of Oponn not only gives the mortal tool incredibly good luck for themselves (ie: Paran deflecting 5 Rhivi javelins, Crokus dodging crossbow bolts) but also lets them pull off really lucky moves and influence those around them, both with good and bad luck. The other Ascendants and important people wanted the Coin-Bearer eliminated because as long as he is around they might be killed by the weirdest coincidences, or their own plans might get foiled by them.
