Replace your nicotine addiction with a mafia addiction! It takes all your free time so you stop realizing the times you otherwise would've gone out and smoked!

Well, technically you could get lynched in about 5 minutes, but that doesn't happen often. I think he should replace it with country line dancing.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

And you'll never hear the, "Your mouth tastes like an ash-tray" line again. That one got annoying.

Edit: Get down, turn around, go to town, boot scoot 'n boogie.

Dammit, what do nonsmokers do after they've finished something? I finished the initial prep work for dinner tonight, should be smoking. Cleaned the kitchen, should be smoking. Used the bathroom, should be smoking. Put away groceries, should be smoking.

I'm lost as to what to do immediately after doing anything else.

You could become a compulsive masturbator?

But then what do I do after I've masturbated? See the dilemma? Everything worth doing should be followed with a smoke. Shit, I've enojoyed a cigarette so much I had to have a smoke afterwards.

You could take up knitting. That way you'll just fall asleep before you finish, thus avoiding the cig craving.

Or, you know, not.

I guess you could always start exercising.

Exhaust yourself. You'll be too exhausted to want to celebrate. I ran for as long as I could, then walked uphill back to my house when I quit. All I wanted them was some fucking water and a couch.

Have a glass of water, that way you will be being nice and healthy and getting all the water you need too

Good luck to all those giving up the smoking :p I stopped a few years ago, used to have one every now and again with friends who smoked for a while too, but I have stopped that entirely. My lungs thanks me! So do my clothes!

Whenever you have that "now what do I do", think of what you would do after you went and did a smoke and go straight to that!

Also, don't country line dance, Lindy Hop!

Yeah, good luck RLY and all the others quitting. I've been trying to get my parents to stop smoking for the past 5 years but they can't kick the habit, so I know it must be tough. I'm sure if you persevere though, you'll succeed.

Obdi's suggestion is the best, by the way.

The Lindy Hop is awesome.

RLY, I know what you mean about the compulsive smoking after things. At my mom's, she smokes inside, so when I try to quit here, it's just the compulsion to reach for my cigarettes and light one. I will be reading or something, and I'll reach for them every 5 minutes or so (I don't smoke every 5 minutes, but when you haven't had one in a while, it's always time for the next one, and that's about how long I can go without thinking about 'where are my smokes?').
