Obscure ass book reference. Ok, not so obscure, but still. At one point the pro. is sitting and wrapping colored ribbons around a cane. Old school pining away for some cock, oh yes sir.

@AlanH: If I wanna do a line of weak coke, I'll take a jaunt into DC or baltimore and buy some  At least, thats what my cursory two click search leads me to believe it is.

I still smoke in dreams from time to time, and whenever I do, I'll always wonder in them when the hell I started smoking again. Of course, dream HD is crafty and always knows the answer to that. But still, my subconscious knows I've quit. Victory is mine.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

One day down. If not for pregnant-sick this would have been the most sleepless & miserable night ever.

Yeah sure... I'll post pics of my girl juggling coconuts on a surfboard and all will be forgiven.

Now that I'm quitting I find myself hungry all the time. Should have done this months ago when I wanted to gain weight...

You're preggo? Congrats on that, but you can NOT start smoking again. Use that as the ultimate reason not to start again.

I initially thought the same thing, Ray, but I eventually interpreted her statement as saying "other than sometime in the past when I was pregnant, it was the worst night ever".
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

good god no. never going through that shit again. And thanks to a glorious medical procedure, I can't. (and yes, I quit smoking when I found out I was in the way) But spending night after night sick was the only thing I can think of worse than crawling for a smoke so bad I couldn't sleep.

Ok, I've passed the smoking point and gone into full Tobacaws mode. Its like I can smell a cigarette at a hundred miles now. Also, it appears I've been wearing more perfume than a manhattan escort going for her third client in one night.

ha. Smoke radar is the worst. I experienced that a bit.

I guarantee it goes back to smelling bad after a little while. Once you break the "smokes r gud" link in your brain.

One or two cigarettes in an nicely vented area still smell like heaven to me. Bars though can be annoying as fuck as cigarette smell is usually overpowering.

Ugh. Completely forgot about that... puts a halt to my night out with the bitches on friday, and I know I won't be able to stay quit if I go.

It might be too early to tempt yourself that way. I wasn't comfortable testing myself in trouble situations until I had been quit for over a month. Good work, by the way.

I love the anti-smoking by-laws and provincial laws they've set up here.
You can actually go out to bars and not come back smelling like you'll have lung cancer in the near future.
It also helps people quitting go out.

You obviously require more than two clicks then! :D

Anti smoking legislation is the best. I love it. Hated it when a smoker, not any more.

My father quite after 30 years of smoking.

He took some butts from the ash tray and put them into a jar with water. Anytime he had an urge he would open jar and sniff (Foul by the way.)

Another trick he used was to suck on cinnamon sticks. For the physical.

Anyway good luck!
Oh, me and my endless folly!

The tea tree oil sticks I mentioned earlier in the thread work wonders for the physical habit. I went through so many of those the first month I quit, then I just lost the desire to chew them.

I had to not drink for about 3 weeks when I was quitting. I KNEW if I got drunk I'd smoke. After the first couple of weeks, I was right as rain and could be a happy little drinker again, while not smoking. Although, having cigarettes waved around in my face and being taunted with them was a bit annoying.

I knew a girl, ex smoker, whose response to the taunting was to say... "Ok. Can i bum one off you?", then take the offered smoke and break it in half, toss it away and then say "That was awesome. Can i have another?".

- Abyss, loved that.
