Esslee Monot (the Dubious)

The excerpt in the beginning of chapter nine (p. 380 in UK paperback edition) is signed by "Esslee Monot (the Dubious)". Seems like Erikson has created a person based on ICE (Esslemont - Esslee Monot, pretty straight forward). Not really a big deal, but is a bit interesting nonetheless. Anyways, what do you guys think? Nicknaming ICE "the Dubious" seems like an inside joke between the two of them

'None could guess my confusion, my host of deluded illusions and elusive delusions! A mantle of marble hiding a crumbling core of sandstone. See how they stare at me, wondering -all wondering- at my secret wellspring of wisdom...'
'Let's kill him,' Crokus muttered, 'if only to put him out of our misery.'

i think i was too busy laughing at the fact that he's completely wrong about the k'chain plaza.
seems like thats what SE has done though

There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.

ATTENTION: Wise Kruppe Has omething to Bray!
Kruppe doesn't wonder at the "Esslee Monot (The Dubious)" handle, since at the end of the excerpt from his book, My Endless Travels, the author plainly doesn't believe in the reputed age of the plaza. "(The Skeptical)" would have worked just as well.
Kruppe reminds one and all of our own history, where Marco Polo's travels were looked on askance for hundreds of years, and chalked up as tall tales, largely unbelieved. Even Herodotus, a mostly respected historian, was not above telling some out-and-out whoppers himself. Not that he had to, since he described plenty of factual things that people were unwilling to credit because they seemed so outlandish.

So, wait, not having the book with me. I'm guessing the KCCM plaza you're talking about is the supposed area around stratem where all the ground has been covered in cut stone.
Why don't you believe this? It's fantasy.

Never mind my name, was changed by a mistake. Just waiting for the 1 month period to pass by so I can change it back

Just ask an Admin. I think we still have the old name change thread down in the Admin area.

Clever. Totally didn't catch that, even on the reread where i actually pay attention to the little chapter starters.
