Well, I will no longer eat at KFC ever again. I want my food to be treated well and coddled so it tastes better. Anyway, why give money to the competition? (Ive got a KFC 3 doors up from the shop I have shook on and will hopefully get to sign on...)

So... it's pizza from here on out?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Some pizzas have chicken on them....Far as I can tell, apart from Bernard Mattews, all Poultry farmers are just not bootiful in the way they raise their livestock. Battery hens are treated no better.

Apart from just giving up on chickens altogether or paying through the nose for free range stuff, neither of which is palatable, what other options are there? I hate being woken up from ignorance.

I'm not a PETA fan. I think they're by and large hypocrites on a galactic scale.

I'm not a vegetarian. When it comes to meat eating, I'm like Harry Dresden. "I believe in exercising my rights as an Apex Predator. And I laugh in the face of cholesterol." And I want dead pigs and cows on my vegetarian pizza, too please.

That said, I've been in slaughterhouses. And I don't have to be an environmental "save the rain forest" wealth-redistributionist to know that animals are often not killed in the most merciful or even efficient means. Heck, watch "Deadliest Catch" and you can see that they starve those crabs for 10days or more before they get to port.

So no, one doesn't have to buy the environmentalist line or the PETA rubbish to know things could and should be done better.

We need to remeber a chicken is a chicken. An animal that can be tricked by a light bulb into thinking its daytime 24hrs a day every day and which is programmed to eat so long as its day time is obviously not very smart. I doubt the chicken spends much time in introspection of its existence or spends much time wondering about the conditions of its cage. Does it feel pain, sure. Does it ponder the misery of its species forced to live on battery farms destined to be food for some ravished evil being. No!

Actually they pump seawater into the tanks continuously or they'd die and they couldn't sell a single one of them.

I personally think the convenience food type establishments have a bottom line that includes making a profit. Sadly the majority of people out there could care less if the cow was sad or not about it's living conditions or how badly it was butchered before scarfing down a half pound of a once living animal. Why? Because it didn't cost as much as the kobe beef they had the night before that was pampered and fed beer every day of it's life before being asked if it was ok if they could just get a slice or two from the cow if it wasn't such an inconvenience. It's just the pace of human existance. If enough people really had issues with it we wouldn't have fast food.

I'll take the Extra Large, Deep Dish Meat Lover's with double meat, please. 15 minutes? Sounds great to me.

BTW, PETA is retarded. I had a hardcore PETA activist and practicing Vegan on my military ship who used to keep a picture of a dying Rhino with a missing horn in her rack with the curtains open so she could "bring to light the injustices animals face every day." Never mind they force their views on others while accomplishing very little, and at HUGE expense and waste. I disapprove of being told I'm a bad person simply because I eat those cudly animals they're trying to save. I want to punch Noah Wylie in the face every time I see a WWF commercial.

And for posterity, the movie clip was awful. It made me sad.

I think everyone should be made to face up to the fact that if you buy cheap meat, then animal welfare is likely to be low on the agenda. If people want to carry on then, fair enough. Organic and free range farming isn't really sustainable for current consumption levels. So, meh. There are bigger problems in the world but in general, you should know where your food came from and how it got to your plate.

You should, it's delicious. The suffering really adds to the flavour.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Does it taste like chicken? I don't like the taste of chicken. People always look at me like I'm mental when I say that. I have been trying to wean myself onto it since I quit being a vegetarian (because the impending red meat induced arterial disease will be too ironic to stomach) but it isn't working. I just think of beaks and feathers and scabby feet and those staring beady eyes and then I just can't do it. I'm happy for the fuckers to be dead, but I don't want to eat them.

I have a friend who works for a company that manufactures 'the smell' (not the taste) of KFC.

I would never have a KFC, frak the animal welfare, chickens don't have feelings, nor can they contextualise their experience. I'd never have one because in the hierarchy of staff quality it goes:

Clown

King

Colonel

I was a McDonalds manager when I was a student and if we sacked someone for gross incompetence or jizzing in a burger or something they would find their way to KFC. When I spoke to them they used to laugh and say "It's miles better at KFC, we don't have to clean the place after we close"

Shudders.

I noticed the same thing about Burger King, at least here in Copenhagen. Any McD I am in, you can be sure that the floor is at least clean and the surfaces have been wiped down regularly. But if you look behind the counter and in to the kitchen in the Burger Kings... it's a different story.

It's ok if it's soylent green. They only use the people who don't have any feelings and they're almost always free range. Not to mention they don't run around much after the head comes off.

True. Free range peoples are much tastier. Leaner too, and even lower in cholesterol. The meat can be a little tough tho if you don't cook it properly.

What?

On the animal cruelty/food production discussion, i tend to fall on the predatory arguement - all we're doing is industrializing predation. It's not like we were being nice to the mammoths when we chased whole herds of them off cliffs.

- Abyss, notes that if the chickens don't like it they can bloody well rise up and fight for their own rights.

Only once in 3 years. But if you want 1 piece of advice never piss McDs staff off, they have nothing to lose and if you make one of the girls on the till cry or come in giving it large (the way people talk to fast food staff is unbelievably rude, completely beyond what most people should be expected to tollerate) then retribution will be swift and unpleasant and you'll never know.

once on three years is more often than I like. Cant speak about others but I dont think I have ever been rude to a person at McDonalds. Making someone cry seems especially difficult to do.

Although I did once see a customer scream at a stupid till girl about giving her the wrong change. A massive scene later she realises the mistake was hers. I like to think she was a little embarresed

Personally, I am unfailingly polite to fast food staff (or really any catering staff) all the time, unless if they're blithering idiots and I'm not planning on returning ever, in which case I am unfailingly polite until I'm holding my food in my hands, which is doublechecked to ensure they didn't fuck up the order. And even then I'm not exactly going to be calling them cockwarts as I walk out.
