Ok, couple of possibilities popped in my head:

Infected person comes forward and is then killed.
Infected person comes forward but scum crosses him off the list of potential threats and kills someone else.
Either killer or possible symp claiming infection, but very unlikely cause all it takes is the infected to come forward. This only works if the infected stays quiet for some reason.

The second possibility seems the most likely.

I bet the heal does work on synapse overload. Because if PS had intended otherwise, he could just had the heal go through after. There not being a healer is more likely.

But for all we know the healer (if there is one) is infected anyway.

Fuck I didn't think of an infected being randomly picked, which if that the case would throw out my second possibility, making it more vialable for the killer to go for someone who claims infected in the off chance that he might be a guard or a finder.

I think so, too. If their possible kill on a player might happen anyway (because of SO), they'd be much more likely to kill someone else.

And the fact that if there IS a healer then the healer would be targetting the infected person. I'm not sure if it's a blanket heal, but why would the killers go for someone who might survive?

Right, that, too. Targeting an outed infected is a terrible play for a killer.
