Yep, we'll use yahoo!

It's user friendly, easy, and highly customizable.

Search for Malazan League, password is hetan, I've put a 14 team max/ on for now to allow every interested party so far to join, and it leaves space for one more. Best of all, there's an option for the Comissioner (me) to enter offline draft results for the teams, so it meshed nicely with our current plans.

Plus we can customize the scoring system and team sizes, so we can discuss that and come to an agreement.

I was thinking the starting line-up should be 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST, with 6 subs - so a 15 round draft. Anyone?

I think this sounds like exactly what we were looking for. It certainly gives us quite a bit of flexibility. The fact that it is user friendly is a bonus as well, because there is nothing worse than not being able to figure out the league format. I like that we can have more than twelve just in case people have previously missed this post and still want to join. I think the more people the better. So yes I'm all for that yahoo league, well done TT!

I can not see Malazan in the Custom league section.

We need:

The league ID#

and the password.

The name of the league does not help us.

Alright, calm down fussypants, I didnt know as I dont have to search for it myself, and all it says is:

Malazan League (ID# 152642)

So I had a 50/50 shot of getting it right really.

EDIT: Do I have to "Publish League" first? Or is that done after the draft? I originally thought the latter...can anyone find it and try join, then we can see?

Is there any way that instead of 3 WR you have 2 and then an option for rb/wr for the other slot? That way you have a lot more versatility in your team.

I think there is, yes. I'll check it in a bit for sure, but I'm 80%.

EDIT: Yes you can, just changed it to 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 WR/RB for now, to demonstrate it's possible. We'll have votes about scoring stuff and roster sizes, when we'll decide.

Any socring or roster things anyone else wants to suggest?

You need to publish the league so that it is available for us to join. No undesirables will be able to get in due to the password.

Scoring should be typical 1 pt per 10 yards receiving or rushing for RB and WR, with 1 per 25 for QB. It is actually more common to have a flex WR/TE than WR/RB. Running backs are by far the most dominant position in the game, and a team with 3 good ones (read, healthy) is going to dominate a team with just 2. You should have tried ESPN, it's free, fairly customizable, and has automatic live-statistic scoring, but it's your league.

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE flex, K, D/ST. I've never played in a league with kick punt return yards scoreble. It might add some excitement... but I'm not a big fan at this point.

With 14 teams, this is even MORE important as there will be a dearth of quality players if people are actually playing. 12 is the normal team limit as it makes the draft difficult but not too difficult, and not ridiculously easy with say 8 teams or so.

BTW, prepare to be dominated. :p

Edit: I'm joined up.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Try the password as "hetan" uncapitalized, Tehol. The league # is correct.

Basically, via this forum, Volkh. You're in, incidentally, you give us 14. :p

We'll come up with an order for each round, and I'll set up a seperate thread once we decide on a date for draft purposes specifically. Then, there'll be a time limit for eachround, so everyone knows they have to make their pick within a certain period (probably a couple of days or so). We'll probably have to divide each round into sections, so say, the people picking 1 - 5 have to do so on Monday, 5 - 10 on Tuesday, etc. We'll come up with a proper idea for when we're done and know when people are going to be around. The great thing is that we dont have to all be online at once, it allows for us to sign on, make a pick, then come back a few days later when we can to make the next one, if needed.

League published, incidentally. We also will have our own URL once the league sets up, it'll be something like http://football.fant...hoo.com/malazan, although not necessarily that. I did enter one so it's easier for us all to just jump straight to rather than having to log in and find the league.

At the moment we're in one big league, bearing in mind there are 14 of us, it allows for everyone to play everyone else once, playoff wise what do we wanna do? Options are weeks 15&16 or 16&17 (4 teams), weeks 14,15,16 or 15,16,17 (6 teams), and weeks 14,15,16 or weeks 15,16,17 (8 teams).

I'll flick the WR/RB to WR/TE if requested, or back to WR. Votes people? You're right, a RB/WR would make the league very running oriented and skew it. And Im not ending up f*cked if all my RBs get knee injuries again this year (thankyou Steven bloody Jackson). If we go for 6 subs, that's one for each position, and no-one's really going to go for TE above WR, but I suppose it allows the option incase of injuries and so might be useful.

Ok SCORING:

We'll start with:

Offense
10 yds recieving/rushing = 1pts
TD receiving/rushing = 6pts
Passing TD (ie from QB or player in Wildcat) = 4pts
Interceptions thrown = -1pt
25 Passing Yards = 1pt
Fumble Lost = -2pts
Kick/Punt Return TD = 6pts
25 Kick/Punt Return yards = 1pt

Kicker
Field Goals (0-39yds) = 3pts
Field Goals (40-49yds) = 4pts
Field Goals (50+ yds) = 5pts
XP kicked = 1pt

DST
Sack = 1pt
Interception = 2pts
Fumble Recovered = 2pts
Defensive TD = 6pts
Safety = 2pts
0 Points allowed = 10pts
1-6pts allowed = 7
7-13pts allowed = 4
14-20pts allowed = 1
21-27pts allowed = 0
28-34pts allowed = -1
35+ pts pts allowed = -4

Everyone happy with these? I'm open to suggestions and will change them if the majority are in favour. The one I'm abit concerned about is the return yards as I've not played with that before, and i think 25yds may be slightly generous for a point. The 6pt TD seems fair though.

What do you all think?
