thing about merc games, you need a lot of participation from al players to gauge possiblefaction membership.
and we're a little short on that right now, it would seem.

Aye, that is true. I would very much like to see something other than Fener was wrong about Silanah thus he should be lynched sort of nonsense. I sincerely believed he was the strongest candidate for being cult we could find day 1, and he wasn't on my team anyways so what did I care if I was wrong?

And no, if so far anyone's on Korlat's team, it's Ruse

Well, I kinda glazed over what Ruse said, but he more or less OMGUSed on Korlat's behalf...also I think he accused Fener of strawmanning, without actually using the term.

I am not defending Korlat. I'll as happily vote for him, and it was certainly no OMGUS vote on Fener. I raised concerns about him before Fener even voted, but hey this is mafia, don't let facts get in the way eh?

And I did not accuse Fener of strawmanning (whether I used the term or not). My argument is that his case against Sil could just as easily be directed against him (Fener I mean). It's certainly as valid a case as the day 1 one. Kesso's reaction is interesting though!

Well, RL is a bitch, way too much going on to properly play and contribute right now. I managed to read up though, and not a whole lot to go on, the fact that Fener is fixating on the cult, and is certain that PB wasn't on is team, leads me to believe, he is either a leader of an opposing faction (un-likely because he isn't getting a whole lot of support) or he is in fact cult himself. Either way I know he's not my leader and sometimes you just have to gamble on whether or not he's on your team, so

I too find what Bent has pointed out to be strange, but at the same time I don't see why Fener wouldn't know if someone wasn't in his faction? I mean, we technically all know at least one other in our faction, and so can then deduce from the basics who is probably also in our faction, yes?

Of course, I'm not convinced that Fener is now the best target - he has made some strange posts, and is a bit obsessed with power roles and cult - but that's what we lynched Sil on, isn't it? Plus, this IS a merc-cult game, therefore it makes sense to focus a bit on the cult, which almost invariably ends up as the biggest threat unless we get the cult leader early on.

As for Korlat, I seriously have no idea about the power role thing. Trying to be helpful, yes. But then again, given 90% of the game doesn't seem to know jack all about the theme, the posts have proven useful, or at least felt that way.

It's difficult to lay out exactly. When I read Korlat's posts I imediatly thought power role. Then, when I raised this point he first tried to wave me away by calling me an idiot and then ignoring the whole thing. When that didn't work he got aggressive enough I felt my hypothesis had been given a stronger foundation.

I went back and had a look. I remembered the idiot comment, and it was a little brusque. But I really don't see what you mean by him becoming aggressive. There's one post where he says he'd quite like to see what info people will get from a CF, and that's about it. I think you're pushing on this quite a bit harder than the case has merit for.

There's also the certainty thing. Now I don't know a whole lot about the characters, but the impression I got is that PB's character was not especially powerful in the grand scheme of things, and unlikely to be especially well connected if we were to take the books as canon. With that in mind, it's a bit more likely that Fener is reasonably powerful. More likely than Korlat? I'm not sure. I need to have a think about this and purge the Town v Scum mentality from my system. Going to read through the two of them and see if I can turn anything new up...

Contrast that with his summaries later where he was providing plot and character summaries, and generally behaving as if he knew everything.

Now on the one hand, this makes me more suspicious of Fener - he could well be bringing up his own character, or someone in his role PM. But then there's the contradiction in Korlat's play that makes me suspicious of him too, particularly as this contradiction seems to have been induced by Fener bring up this particular character. I'm so indecisive .
