Can anyone clear up which parts of Genabackis actually belongs to the empire? I've just started reading Gardens of The Moon and i'm a tad on the confused side of things.

Apologies for the really rubbish map, i would blame it on my 5yro son but i don't have 1

i'm assuming the yellow is owned by the empire and the green bits are as yet unconquored?

Alright cheers dude.

Just wondering why Pale has a ring around it sayin it belongs to the empire when that map is supposed to be from yr1160, and i didn't think the empire took pale until 1163 i think it is.

Had me a bit confused

THE TIMELINE IS NOT IMPORTANT, THE TIMELINE IS NOT IMPORTANT, THE TIMELINE IS NOT IMPORTANT...

What is shaded looks to be about right. At the start of GotM the Empire controls all of the Free Cities but one (Darujhistan).

It's all a big mess, but you should also consider that the war is constantly moving, what is controlled by one faction could be controlled by the other next year, there could be riots and mutinies, problems with supply lines forcing one side to retreat, etc.
Before the end of MoI I think everything was very unstabble on Genebackis.
