I only had time to watch the first 5 minutes this morning, can't wait to watch the rest later. I LOVE DAN SAVAGE. Really interesting and intelligent man. I can't wait to see how this discussion goes, I can only expect that Savage will absolutely destroy this guy but maybe then again, I of course have my own opinions of the bible and gay people.
You should have given this video its own thread.

If one with power would like to make it its own thread and move these past few posts, I would be totally fine with it.
I thought about it, but I didn't want to pull a Nico (as much as I love the guy) and post an hour long video that everyone is required to watch for the thread to work. Plus I had only watched half an hour of it before posting it, though it was already pretty great in that span.
On the other hand, I also recently watched (most of, so far) another video from this kid giving a lecture for a Biblical defense of homosexuality -- or at least a debunking of the Biblical case for homophobia -- which may sound counter-intuitive, but there are still plenty of gay people in the church(es) (closeted and not closeted) who might be seeking such an argument. I don't expect everyone to agree with it, but it's a well thought out argument with citation and certainly a more than surface knowledge of the Bible. Here's that video:
That's another hour-plus long thing, but skimming through it might be worth it for the curious.
As far as this Brown vs. Savage thing goes, I would say Brown starts with a false premise (marriage is inherently one thing, by definition both natural and supernatural) and then on top of that argues the tautology that any other definition is illogical. He insists that his argument is logical throughout, and while he and Dan both at least take the event seriously, it's still maddening how bad his argument (which is actually genuinely representational of the argument at large here, bad logic and all) is.

Try to imagine an anime show about Batman in an early 20th century Shanghai.
I bet it couldn't be more awesome than this.

Speaking of S.H.I.E.L.D., this was in the news the other day:
