I hate new years resolutions!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Well apparently this past year has been a total failure. :(

Dear Future Rodeo, fuck you.

Just think of the stupid things you've done that I haven't. You bastard. Think of the all the beers and poor dating choices you've experienced that I haven't.

I sincerely hope you have not drank whiskey and done something foolish. Or at the very least made sure someone took photos of said incident(s).

Hopefully you have a full time job by now. One doesn't crush our soul every day and leave us contemplating drinking bottles of whiskey. We know where that goes. And we never did catch that horse and put a hat on her. Or did we?

Maybe we're dating Sara now. Maybe we're not. Either way, sow those wild oats before we accidentally stumble into a mature relationship and ruin everything.

There's no point pretending we won't still be posting on Malazan because lets face it, we've been doing it since 2001. That's a good streak and don't you fuck it up.

I'm certain animals have attacked you since we wrote this. Birds? Bears? Sea-bass? Good luck with that.

Finally, it's time to kill the pants joke. She's done played out. Even if we do manage to lose our pants again in some misadventure, keep it on the down-low.

Sincerely,

Past Rodeo

Fuck yeah, Past Rodeo! I've had a great year!

MESSAGE TO THE AIJ OF THE FUTURE

Hi. You probably remember me as the self who kept that block of chocolate under the desk. You cunning devil.

By now you are probably thinking of the Good Old Days, eating nothing but bread and constantly shaking your head over the no-doubt epic ending of the Malazan books. But spare a thought for the there and now. Pay attention, then, to these words of wisdom.

*50 cents can be a fortune.
*All the girls on the Internet are actually dudes.
*Always eat breakfast.
*It's later than you think (don't ask for clarification)
*Maths is not crucial to a living.
*Don't think about how long that cookie will last.

Well, I gotta go now buddy. Take care, and make sure you win custody of the Xbox! And here's a little reminder of what's important.

MALAZAN FOREVER!!!!!

-MESSAGE ENDS-

Man, what a young hot-head I was back then...

This was a great idea! I honestly think I've grown somewhat. :(

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I didn't post anything a year ago, but if I had, I'm certain I would have predicted "get drunk and masturbate a lot."

And, lo and behold, my retroactive hypothetical prediction would've come true.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get drunk and masturbate.
I finally have an avatar ... and it's better than yours.

I'll be working on that. I've got an action packed gun-fu thingie planned.
It will be interesting to see if I finished it once the capsule opens. I'm likewise interested to see if my profile becomes the most viewed profile ever on Malazan Empire...

Checklist for future self:
* have I managed to alt guess Gem correctly?
* did I manage to post some interesting DoD analysis?
* did I run the MafiaSpy Game TMDI gazillion+ succesfully?
* did I manage to avoid calling the ex for pity-sex?
* did I manage to make a relationship last for longer than the initial fun and exciting phase?
* did I manage to turn of Yellow's lust and Morgoth's hormones by some cunning plan?

If none of these happened:

Tapper, I hereby congrulate you myself. You're still the lazy fnck you always were, and have managed to avoid self-improvement, which, as we know, is just masturbation. Go on living like you're 20 and carefree, son, and it doesn't matter if it drives anyone but you to desperation.

If any of the above happened:
Wow, you/I managed to achieve something, even if it is rather trivial in the greater scheme of things! Keep up the discipline, raise the bar and don't let ambition go to sleep!

I had a good year, apparently, but only thanks to Spycraft :(
RESERVED

Hello future self. Glad to see you're still a part of the scary mob. Have you managed to make yourself known a little better outside of the mafia forum?

Speaking of Mafia - it's currently game 47. The manager is at version 0.21, I hope you've gotten around to making some improvements.

How is work? Are you actually doing anything interesting yet?

You better have bought your own place by now too.

And that's about it. Hope the world cup is fun!
Work isn't much more fun now than it was a year ago, but at least I have a house now :( Amazing how fast the time has gone by.

Well, some things to say to myself a year from now.

Do you still think this is the best internet place ever? I hope the answer is yes
Was DoD good? Again I hope the answer is yes.
Will I be happier or sadder than now? You tell me in a year.
Are your marks as good as now? I fervently hope so.
Oh and do you still think was Apt's best idea?
And another oh: did some end winning the Apt vs Abys war? And if yes, who?

I'll think of something later.

I have no idea what that underlined part meant. Should have been clearer because I've forgot.

Tapper, my genial mind understood what my past self wanted to say seconds after I posted and, indeed, it seems I was referring to the Time Capsule. Shocking, I know.

Sunuvabitch.

I understand the reasons. I do. It WAS a drain. It WAS sexist. But still, it was one of the few things that I hoped would only get better. Ah well, c'est la vie.

I don't feel the need to claim I've reserved anything...I have enough redundancy in my standard posting style as it is without the need to add more, by which I mean that I like to write my name at the bottom of my posts when I don't need to. Because that's redundant, you see? Merely by the fact that I have pressed the add reply button, I have marked my name on this tiny portion of cyberspace - thus I can be redundant in signing my name, but refuse to stoop to the additional trouble of bolding a statement of reservation. Because that's redundant, you see?

Sir Thursday

Well, it seems I felt the need to repeat myself over and over again redundantly back then. Not much has changed.
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Blasted heatwave preventing me from using the computer out of fear of overheating it and as a result being unable to check the time capsule until days later.

It seems the only thing that's changed from last year is that I've gotten even fatter, done even less work, failed to out-Halo AIJ, didn't post very often, stopped using '...' and instead started misusing dashes and semicolons, grew teen sideburns/mutton chops, and changed my annual achievement from "Won a Halo Wars match" to "Finally beat Exdeath after 3 years." Hehe. Annual achievement. Hah! Halo reference! Take that, AIJ!

Oh, and I got an iPod Touch and learned that I hate Apple.

Overall, the year could have been better.

Edit: I nearly forgot. I've grown from a foolish child with a cynical outlook on life, to a foolish child with an apathetic, nihilistic outlook on life.

Edit2: I've also committed myself to collecting money for Malaz Isle. I don't care how many years it takes. It will happen.

Edit3: So, how does this work? Will the 2010 capsule be a new topic, or built on this one? If built on this; do we make new entires, or edit our reserved posts?

Edit4: Before I forget, "Get a job!"

Edit5: Edit. Multiples of 5 > Even numbers > Odd numbers.

Are you rich yet? Then get back to work!

Things I hope have happened in a year:

Made loads of Malazan Art

Gotten a driver's licence

Gotten a car

Changed apartments

Kept my job or gotten a better one

Finished ONE effing story.

I'm not rich, so I must get back to work!

- Have made loads of Malzan art!

- Have not gotten a driver's license :)

- Have bought a car!

- Have not changed apartments :p

- Got laid off from my old job, got new job that pays a lot less :p

- Didn't finish a SINGLE story!!! But I started three new ones:P

Only achieved 2 out of 6, but I don't feel that bad about it. I'm currently relaxing in a hammock, which we've put up in our living room, surfing and eating danish pistacho nuts and drinking Coke. There's also a kilo of danish bacon in the fridge...life is good :p
Things and stuffs...and other important objects.
