So, what about a game? The stupidest commitment I may ever make on this forum...

I have a lot experience with RPG's (table tops/pen and paper) so I'll volunteer to help/play/run or what ever is needed.

Im interested but not really experienced with this sort of thing. Im willing to give it a serious try though. As for type, well, fantasy seems the staple for me.

Have I missed a pm or something? I was away last weekend, see. Don't you go forgetting about me now!
As to setting/what we want, well I'm easy...(hey now, none of that you cheeky people...you know full well what I mean. ) But it needs to be something not too obscure/not too much 'inside knowledge' required type of thing, because I know nothing.

'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Well fantasy sounds cool, and makes sense.

I'm interested, as well, I must say after having found this thread lol. As for the world, I really don't mind too much, though I'd be leaning towards fantasy or steampunk.

So, most people seem up for a fantasy setting, unsurprising in a fantasy forum.
What else do we need? Some sort of setting/premise?
I'm cool with the sort of families thing you mentioned earlier.

yeah, and a choice of system.
the main gripe with fantasy is mostly how to deal with stuff like magic - that's where stuff gets complicated.
I'll see what I can find in my rpg library for something I can easily apply that is both easy to use and learn and suits forum play.
Expect an update somewhere wednesday afternoon.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

OK, update coming as promised (for once )
Oki, the question was for a fantasy rpg (see Grief's request).
I did some digging and came up with exactly nothing. You see, the problem with fantasy worlds are multifold:
1) the world and everything in it is usually fairly different from what you can imagine, so it would be quite a hurdle to step into for rpg-newbies, like Bwgan. Last thing I want at this stage is exclude people through the steep stepping stone that is world involvement, or people having radically different opinions of what is the world.
2) there's usually a smattering of odd physics, odd races, odd mechanics, odd magic - and the ways they are incorporated are, invariably, with special rules. Rules that people then need to learn. Rules that people have to dig into to understand what their character can and cannot do.
And then, Bubba threw Paranoia! in here. I'm biased, but I love Paranoia's concept (see another thread, where I mentioned I was preparing a game with the system). Illy responded in what can only be called typical fashion and it was funny.
So, I contacted Bubba and Illy and asked them if they would want to co-host the game if we went for Paranoia! Illy unfortunately can't due to time & life restraints, Bubba however responded with a lot of enthusiasm and so, I can now announce the system, concept and the (beginnings of the?) team that's going to bring it to you.
In the coming days, I'll try to update the thread with bits of info, and do some stage prep. Bubba and I are going to try to come up with a (hopefully) whacky and surprising opening adventure, too, but that will take time.

Hrm, I think Paranoia could be an awesome system for this!
Though you should consider the complexity that can accompany it, and keep it to a minimum early on (besides the required...flavour, ofc), to allow for the new players to get used to it.
"Stay Alert! Trust No One! Keep Your Laser Handy!"
>.>
In any case, it's nice to see a fixed system, and Paranoia is probably a good start.

Thanks for the update
Have taken a look at this paranoia thing, and it looks like I will enjoy it.

sowwy, you just made very clear you hadn't roleplayed before - ran into that when my group and I started around 10 years ago, we didn't know anything and ran exactly into all these problems so you're actually a god-send
