Well, it's always been a bit of a flaw in the native version. And yes, it does have a few other flaws, but they're more than made up for with the style of gameplay and combat. But since we're apparently discussing a game you don't have, you should probably play it 1st and see what you think.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

So thats how you choose which troops you bring to a battle first?
I need to pay more attention to that.
If I am going to siege a castle, I drop off all my knights and pick up Swadian Sergeants, Vaegir Guards, Rhodok Trained Spearmen, and the most 'advanced' ranged troops I can find. I have 100 Crossbowman just sitting at one of my castles in case I decide to try the flurry of arrows way

Yep, I recruit crossbowmen, then post them in my castle, as they usually get left behind in other battles.
Not that many yet though! Actually, I need to take on some soldiers from regions other than the Rhodoks.

i can't believe i would find people on this forum with this game, classic! I prefered the rebals approach myself i'll take everyone on
took me ages to get going tho, my 50 compared to lords 150+ i always got my ass handed to me. So i spent about a week just pickin fights with sea raiders 15-40 peeps and loot sell repeat etc etc. took my 1st castle and held tight until i had more troops to go at it again. I am using a modded version tho as it gives me the luxury to train units at my castle while i'm off conquoring the world!

Ugh. I hate this game. (not really) Its so damned addictive. I want mroe than anything to sit and play Void, and do all sorts of evil and vindictive things at the behest of miserable naked women, yet there I go, clicking that icon to play this and go smashysmash some nords or something. Been kicking all sorts of ass with 5 heroes, and about twenty each of swadian and vaegar knights, with a solid block of huscarls for whenever a castle needs to get owned. Expensive, but my 50 or 60 seem to eat through 2 or 3 to one odds with only a dozen or so wounded and the odd death.

I've been playing the 100 years war mod. I get 30 or so longbowman lined up on a ridge, order them to stay, then lure the enemy into range with the cavalry - bloodbath!
My new PC really lets the bodies pile up, too.

I tried playing that. Picked the french cause I likey the charge smash kill thing and it was absolutely ridiculous trying to get anywhere against those bows. I don't suppose a new version of this mod has fixed that has it?

Hehe, it's interesting to find a MaB thread here.
I've been playing it since the early versions, now I'm in the Warband beta and also do all kinds of stuff for TLD (the LOTR mod).
Yep, probably my most played game ever.

I have to say the LOTR mod for M&B was amazing, I'm really looking forward to the new release.

I recall there was an effort to produce a malazan mod for Mount and Blade...anybody know how that effort progresses?
I recommended this game to SE and he has since bought it, though I don't know how he's got on with it.

I've been playing the developer alpha of TLD for a while and it's already quite good.

A Malazan mod would be epic. I don't even recall one being planned though. :/ The books aren't very well known on the TW forums so it would be hard to get good modders in the team. It is now possible to do some kind of magic and big monsters though!

Just tracked it down on the TaleWorlds forum. It appears to have died, sadly

Anyone tried the multiplayer on the new 'Warbands' version?
Warbands has been out for a bit on Steam - it looks pretty much the same to me, apart from the addition of the multiplayer option. I want to know if it's any better than the mods that are already out for the 1st game, and if it's worth getting just for the multiplayer.
