Well, those merry japesters have done it again, manipulating an online vote for some entertaining results.

Times 100 most infuential

Not only did they get Moot to number one however, they also affected the positions of the top 21 people in the vote:

top 100 list

If you take the first initials of the first 21 people listed you're left with:

"Marblecake also the game"

for those of you who don't know, marblecake is the IRC channel that a lot of the anti-scientology stuff was
organised on, and the game is the game (you just lost by the way)

Honestly, i've thought these polls were cack for years, but these results made me smile, so fair play to them.
meh. Link was dead :(

Not surprising, but humourous nonetheless!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Haha Kobe is at No. 8, and Tina Fey is at 15. Not surprised to see Stephenie Meyer on there, though.

Some of the musicians on there are pretty funny: M.I.A., T-Pain, Jonas Brothers, Lil' Wayne. Haha good stuff.

Some of the /b/tards designed a programme that you could download. You only needed to download it and the programme did the voting for you. It was designed to manipulate the polls protection and go under the radar of someone investigating the votes. For example any votes over 90 or below 10 would be disregarded. That's how they sneaked him up there.

Clever /b/astards.

I am amazed at the power of 4chan.

Honestly though, how does /b/ manage to organize all this? I've read /b/ and have never been able to pick out any kind of coherent plots to rig a bunch of voting polls.

Could you explain this for me Apt? :S

Ever heard the theory of an infinite amount of monkeys and typewriters? That's 4chan for you.

/b/ is completely random spam, and then sometimes, like on a blue moon, a couple of savy bastards form and idea and it just so happens that a couple of other also read that particular piece of flotsam in the river of poo, and things snowball.

Mainly things don't actually happen on 4chan, it's just where things converge. It's random idiots using other boards... like this one for example... chatting over IRC, etc. that decide it would be funny to do something sinister of fiendishly clever. Most of the time it's just one guy who gives the /b/tards a tool, like the voting programme, and let fate decide what the swarm of /b/tards do next.

Such a programme probably took some mediocre programmer less than an hour to put together.

Well, if just 0,1% of 4chans users come up with something brilliant, that's 5000 great ideas a week... problem is that getting a big monster like 4chan rolling is tough. But you only have to look at the way memes develop and evolve on 4chan to notice how clever some people really are.

The amount of joke material poping up on swineflu alone is mindboggling. Disturbing but funny.

Those guys are geniuses (genii?) Someone should get them jobs in the government, between them they could probably solve a bunch of problems. :(

4chans design is simple. It's up, it either gets attention or its gone. Meanwhile a score of idiots copies the material and keeps reposting it claiming to have invented the lulz. Just keep looking long enough and it will show itself.

4chan is also encouraging people to print these and hang them on every building they can :)

Couldn't you get arrested for that? Disturbing the peace or some such thing? If you're caught, that is.
