Six of you stand where twenty-three once stood. 17 of those before you have been killed and lie against the wall of the bar. You know that a killer still lurks in your midst... but who is it?
The tension in the room is so thick you couldn't even cut it with a chainsaw. It is at this point that Ampelas stands up, grabs a nearby bottle, and breaks it into a jagged weapon. Perspiration on his brow, he quickly points it at Tellan and says,
"I can't help but feel that you've been pulling the strings all this time! You were initially a chatty Cathy and then you almost disappeared into the corner of the bar to work on... God knows what?!"
Before Tellan can respond, Omtose and Ruse turn to face Tellan full on.
Ruse offers, "I... I recall some things you've said which just do not sit right with me..."
Omtose immediately follows up with, "Yeah! You have really been laying low... I just..." His voice trails off as his hand moves toward a nearby shard of glass on the table."
Tellan, Gamelon and Shadow say nothing. Shadow seems glad to not be the focal point, Tellan seems nervous that anything he says will make his situation worse... does that mean he is the killer? Gamelon appears tense, a cat ready to pounce.
Omtose looks up one more time and says, "Friends, I feel I may not survive tonight if we are correct... I pray to God that we are right." He then looks over at Gamelon and Shadow and says, "I am afraid that even if we are correct, one of you may be an accomplice."
Omtose waivers a bit, then suddenly looks resolute and says, "Gamelon, I think it's you... but I don't know!" She looks over to Tellan and says, "I just... I just don't know!"
Tellan looks up and finally speaks. "Fine. If you feel that's how it must go... if I must die to prove my innocence, so be it!"
With almost blinding speed, Ruse jumps up and says, "So be it, Tellan!"
Gamelon immediately follows up. "Tellan, your honesty will get you nothing but death!"
Ampelas, Shadow, and Ruse move over to Tellan. Omtose is standing slightly in front of Gamelon but continually looks backward over her shoulder at the scene unfolding as the three men proceed to shank a terrified Tellan over and over and over...
He stops thrashing.
Tellan (Mentalist) is dead. He was innocent.
Omtose looks back at Gamelon and says, "Alright, nothing personal, just making sure y--" Her voice catches in her throat. She looks down and sees a long serrated knife sticking through the front of her rib cage.
"So sorry, lil' lady... it's better this way." Omtose falls to the ground in a heap, a look of complete surprise on her face.
Omtose (Teholbeddict) was killed. She was innocent.
Ruse leans over her body and quickly extracts the knife he used to kill her.
Shadow and Ampelas look on in horror and one of them shouts, "R... Ruse! It's you! But Fener said..."
Ruse cuts them off. "What Fener said was true, chum... at the time." He smirks openly.
Shadow speaks up, "Bloody hell! Fener, Meanas, we thought..."
Ruse responds, "Distractions. They had nothing to do with this."
Ampelas says, "Gamelon! Grab him!"
Gamelon responds slowly, "I would... except for one problem..." he slowly reaches into his pocket and pulls out a knife that looks identical to Ruse's. "You see... I sort of helped plan this."
Shadow and Ampelas go pale. One whimpers, "God... what have we done?"
Ruse says in response, "It won't matter. Not for you anyway." He closes in on Shadow as Gamelon approaches Ampelas.
Ampelas is cut first. He raises his arms in defense but it is no use. Gamelon quickly cuts him down.
Ampelas (Morgoth45) was murdered. He was innocent.
Shadow is backed into a corner and says, "So this is it? You let me take all of the heat for... a recipe?"
Ruse responds with a smile. "Congratulations, Shadow. You finally got something right. Ship it!" Ruse plunges the knife into Shadow's neck. Moments later, it is over.
Shadow (Khellendros) was murdered. He was innocent.
*Clap. Clap. Clap*
A slow clap greets Ruse and Gamelon's ears. They turn around to see Bent at the door of the bar.
"Congratulations, my friends! A pity about Mockra and Telles, but I always say that if you stick your nose in one too many jars, you're eventually going to get it bit off."
Ruse and Gamelon smile, each pulling a copy of Darkwatch's recipe from their jackets.
Bent grabs them eagerly and says, "Well gentlemen? Shall we see how good this drink really is?"
They leave the bar together.
The scum has won.
Mockra (Hoosierdaddy) was scum.
Tennes (Vengeance) was scum.
Gamelon (Tapper) was Mockra's symp and was scum.
Ruse (Malaese) was Tennes's symp and was scum.
Everyone else was innocent!
