Great pictures.

Now I need to get the fact that Kalam looks like legendary porn star Lex Steel out my head. Brings new meaning to him having a long knife.

Nooooo... mental images begone!

Great work dude :D
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Honestly though, I've always pictured Kalam looking more like Ving Rahmes or Michael Jai White. If there was a movie or kick ass mini-series I think Michael Jai White would fit the role best; he's a SICK martial artist!! What do you guys think?

Michael Jai White might not be such a bad idea actually. He just needs to not talk much then, when ever he opens his mouth he annoys me.

Michael Jai White... not such a bad idea. I had completely forgotten him or maybe I jsut blocked him out of my mind because of some horrible flicks he's been in, ie. Spawn and Universal Soldier 2.

But Ving Rhames! Why didn't I think of that before? I'd go with him if there ever will be a movie and Jimmy just couldn't make it. He's got that right kind of bad ass persona.
No, my username has nothing to do with a certain wickan warlock. The damned biach stole my username as far as I know.

Ving Rhames is like 60 years old. He's not exactly believable as an unstoppable assassin. He could play Nok or something like that.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Vingh Rhames would be a better model than Vin Diesel. Kalam is often described as somewhat heavey set with a bodytype non-typical for an assassin and using his brute strength and bulk to overpower opponents.

great job! you nailed the facial expressions that i imagined those two having. QB with the 'i know something you dont know' and KM's 'dont even think about it'

Those are great. I'd say Quick is probably more like what I picture. Kalam is cool but he needs to be more massive and swarthy. I think he needs a few days growth of beard and hair in those thick braids which are held together by rings. If you know what I mean. I'll try and find a picture of the hair I'm envisioning.

Definitely late to the party here, but did a search on "Napan" and this art thread came up amongst the searches. Funny....always pictured Kalam and Quick Ben as dark-skinned Arabic, but black works as well, as IIRC, his (Kal's) distant cousin Baranthol (sp.?) is very dark-skinned.

As for the potential actors' musings, MJW was always more in my head as Dancer/Cotillion. Don't know why, but i always get a elderly white-haired Mos Def in my brain as Iskaral Pust for some weirdass reason. But i digress.........

recalling mos def's portrayal of ford prefect in the hitchhikers movie, i think i would have to agree with you there. mos doesn't get enough recognition as an actor and him hopping around pulling out tufts of white hair would be just classic

Right.. same fella... Though the bloke's more of a serious actor...portrayed a victim of the illegal diamond trade in Africa in blood doiamond.. was searching for his son..hmmm.. You have a point there, could probably portray Dassem better.. a man lost his daughter to the god, he was sworn to serve...

First, sorry for a late post, but awesome work.

Quick ben i think h nailed it, but for kalam ive always had a different mental image.
in a nutshell he would be white, a bit more weight to him, possibly bald or a shag.
Very expressioneless hiding emotion face features. After reading the second book when i cant remember her name was travelling with her family back to the docks, i had an image of him being in lots of rags covering armour and weapons and having a beard.
I know there is a character from a video game ill post a pic once i get on my laptop.
Either way amazing work
