Watched "Trainspotting" for the first time yesterday. What a fucked up thing that was, and it's further proof that heroine leads to no good. That dead baby was creepy as all hell.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Read the book; it's way more fucked up than the film. The scene where Renton gets it on with his recently deceased friend's pregnant girlfriend at his Wake is truly a thing of awe inspiring wrongness.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

Mezla... That review is something of a classic imo. I haven't seen one quite like it for a long time. The reviewer leaves you in no doubt that they feel the film is a waste of the time of everyone associated with it. I'm almost surprised they didn't finish it up by suggesting that all copies of it should be burned and never spoken of again...

Yeah, I'm glad the film was made just so that it could inspire that review! It was quite wonderous to behold. I haven't read a copy of Empire this month so my movie choices are now somewhat blind! Which explains why I went to see "Push" earlier. It was entertaining enough for a "we've got superpowers, watch us fight" kind of film. But the plot was all over the place. The writers didn't give themselves much of a chance by including characters that could see the future and therefore try and change it, and other characters that could make people believe anything they chose. It got messy. Also, somebody clearly sat Dakota Fanning down in front of Leon and said "do a Natalie Portman". Precocious child acting FAILURE. It says something when the trailers were the most exciting part of the movie. Star Trek looks rather tasty, some Yanks in the cinema whooped during the Street Fighter trailer and Watchmen looks visually breathtaking, if nothing else.

Saw Paul Blart: Mall Cop today. Yeah...they don't come much dumber than this movie. Had very few laughs in it...had the standard crew of Adam Sandler lackeys.

I watched The Day the Earth Stood Still last night.

Well, it started out pretty good, and I thought I might be pleasantly surprised. Keanu's wooden acting really suits an alien, and Jennifer Connolly is always good.

The film is really pretty and the spaceship was cool, not to mention the automaton sent to guard Keanu's alien visitor (who is on a mission to save earth from us humans) was rather sweet.

Connolly's stepson is annoying though.

But then, as it seems these films always do, it went downhill with a rushed and predictable ending.

I guess it could have been worse; as it was I didn't regret the 90 minutes I spent watching it. Some cool CGI.

Ok I saw Taken the other day. It was awesome.

Basically 1 hour of Liam Nesson wrecking people after his daughter is taken.
