Just watched Everything Must Go, a Will Ferrell film and Kickass 2.
Kickass 2 was great, more of the same, and McLovin is hilarious as a supervillan.
Everything Must Go was not what I was expecting, based off the poster thing Netflix had up for it, and the large red block capitals I was expecting usual Ferrell fare, sillyness and shouting galore, basically what he's known for.
It was quite different, still funny in places but its Ferrell actually acting, and he does a pretty good job, especially in the final third. Basically he's a recovering alcoholic and his life has gone to shit, but the whole film centers on a few days and his stuff in his garden, short and quite entertaining.
Yes my reviews auck

Crimson Peak is deeply unsettling in its Gothic dark romance way.
The level of detail in everything makes it a delicious experience.
This is not a frightfest, but there will be some scares during all this for those looking for that.

Waltz is excellent, some parts of his involvement felt rushed, I dunno, for a film its length and what actually happens plot development wise it felt really rushed in parts, terrible pacing really. If it hadn't of got such great reviews my expectations would have been lower, part of what made skyfall so great was it was following Quantum, if this had followed Quantum it might have felt a bit better but it doesn't hold a candle to skyfall.
This was my main issue too. I really liked the movie, but the introduction of Waltz into the plot felt weirdly rushed. The personal connection Waltz and Craig came rather sudden and made the rest of the movie feel, hm, contrieved.
I loved the prologue (intro scene?). The drums, the colour, it was really cool. The song though, man that was terrible. Compared to the surprisingly good Skyfall theme by Adelle this was a massive drop in quality.
So, a good Bond movie I thought, though nowhere near the best.

That Sam Smith song is an abomination. Probably the worst Bond opening theme in the history of the Bond movies. Why they chose crooning hipster boy with Rick Astley hair is beyond me. His music is terrible.
And though I've not seen the film yet, it certainly sounds like the Waltz part is as shoehorned as it looked in the trailers...which is sad. They could have dialed him subtly as a character mention into SKYFALL so that he would not feel so rushed here.
I'll reserve full judgement till I see it, but that's along the .lines of what I expected.

The premise for Waltz character as a link wasn't a bad idea, just really badly executed.

Surprisingly so. I have to wonder if there were some major scenes cut from the movie.

Hmm, possibly a directors cut could be interesting if there was a lot of stuff on the cutting room floor and Mendes feels it would help. I'm still seeing rave reviews everywhere, but basically everyone I've spoken to that has seen (as in people I know, not critics) have similar problems with the film that I do. Really not getting the hype.
And that theme, god almighty its a shite song

Great logo. May not even have to watch the movie now given how nice that logo is. Completely satisfied as is. Can't get enough of logos, frankly. Some might say I'm loco for logos.

Thanks for sharing QT.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

That's just how EW has chosen to label it for some reason.
It's actually a spinoff that takes place some 70 years before HP in another country...just exists in the same universe. The connection being Newt Scamander (who attended Hogwarts, and is the grandfather of the guy who ends jup marrying Luna Lovegood in the HP books)

Did anyone else know they were rebooting Indiana Jones with Chris Pratt? Idk about this sacrilege... I thought they planned to do a Uncharted movie which is as close to an Indy clone as I'd be fine with since those are fun fucking games and almost movies themselves esp 2.
I like Chris Pratt, I really do. I definitely think he can pull a character a bit like Indy off just fine. But I agree, some reboots are just sacrilege!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

As recently as late October the guy who produced them all said they were still just rumors, and that for at least Indy 5 (if it's made) Ford will still be him. Starting to think Pratt:Indy::Nathan Fillion:Nathan Drake, ie wishful thinking.

I'm starting to boycott reboots at the cinema. I had decided not to see the latest Terminator even before I'd heard it wasn't much good. It's getting so lazy now, the endless sequels and prequels are bad enough but rebooting stuff that doesn't need it. Why? Just watch the original Indy movies instead. I can barely remember the days of going to see original ideas when you didn't really know what a film was going to be about before you went.
