I saw Lockout the other day. Not really that special plot and it could (as in should) have ended 5 minutes earlier. But other than that, it was actually pretty decent.

Answer the big question please.

Was it as good as FORTRESS?

I really wanted to see this when it was on at the cinema but I couldn't get anyone else to agree to watch it and had no chance to go to the movies on my own. Looks like a mash up of Die Hard and Escape From LA in space. Not expecting quality but am expecting lots of fun.

For the hell of it, Netflix'd CAPTAIN AMERICA.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Saw TED the other night.
If you don't like family guy you will not like this movie.

I enjoy family and enjoyed this movie.
Its not a comedy classic but considering the media bombardment of promos I was unable to dodge I was massively impressed. None of the stuff in the trailers was anywhere nesr the funniest stuff in the movie. Most of the laughs are family guyesque in nature, as in out of the blue or diabolically.off colour statements but there's plenty of them and one bit near the end was just so ridiculous I was nesr crying, considering its a split second moment. Walberg impressed me in the other guys showing he can do comedy. Now I want to see him in a more ,er, serious? Comedy.
You know what I mean, ted was funny but relies too much on sudden impact jokes.

Still 13 dirty talking teddys out of 16

Also,Peter griffin chicken fight anyone?

DVR'd X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE a long time back, never watched it. Yesterday I was home sick so watched it. Interesting for the fact that both the leads of JOHN CARTER appear in this film, otherwise...meh.

Indeed, that's how they got the parts in JOHN CARTER. Stanton apparently saw WOLVERINE and liked both of their performances, even though his performance as Gambit was brief.

So apparently at comicon the show was stolen from all the established franchises by Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim, which supposedly looks like nothing you've ever seen.

Sadly for us non comiconites, it's going into media blackout till year's end, so no footage for us. :) But still, I'm already so hyped for this film.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Netflix'd HANNA. Wanted to see this when it came out but never got time. Good stuff. That kid is badass.

DVR'd FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. Better than the first, maybe, but I still have trouble with Ioan "Horatio Hornblower" Gruffudd as Reed Richards and Jessica Alba as Susan Storm. Forgot Captain America was the Human Torch...funny.

Watched AMERICAN REUNION with the missus on Saturday...Meh...more of the same with the only real difference being the notion of Stifler's life having become a caricature and him feeling left out. Decent, but not stellar or hilarious by any means. I think I preferred AMERICAN WEDDING.

I mean the Reunion is only the last like ten minutes. The rest of the film is our cast toodling around their old town being skeevy and teenagery at 30.

Had a free day

Didn't want to go see Batman, since it's opening weekend and the theater would be ape-shit.

Waiting to see Spidey on Blu-ray.

So...went to the discount theater to see WRATH OF THE TITANS. It was...OK. Short and to the point.

Watched 2/3 of BATMAN BEGINS last night (fell asleep...I'm old) in prep for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

Shocking how much of that film I had forgotten.

The good news is that BATMAN BEGINS is definitely the one to refresh yourself with to make the 3rd one have the best impact! you have chosen...wisely.

Apple has posted a nearly 6 minute extended trailer for the Tom Tykwer & Wachowski's adaptation of David Mitchell's CLOUD ATLAS.

If you would rather see the film totally fresh, don't watch....but for a 6 minute trailer I am surprised how little of the actual book you get to see....whoever cut it did a good job.

Anyways, the trailer is flat out GORGEOUS! Gods I'm excited for this one!

http://trailers.appl.../wb/cloudatlas/

Oh and the use of "Outro" by M83 for the second half of the trailer...fucking transcendent.

This is going on my list of picks for the Film Fest in Sept. and I HOPE hope hope I get a ticket....

...and spared yourself 2 hrs of Christian Bale overdoing the Bat-voice in the 2nd one.

I do the Bat-voice all day everyday.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

So The Hobbit is now going to be a trilogy.

Hmm. This is good, as they will fit way more backstory and 'extras' in, that were only mentioned briefly in the book, like the eviction of Sauron from Dol Gildur, and the capture of Gollum (I guess).

It is not so good that they are sticking with the same 'look' and design, imo. I'm reading LotR again after a few years, having watched the films instead, and I'm finding it so nice to revisit the original text, characters and locations that had been replaced in my mind by the movie versions. And I'm enjoying it a lot more than the films, I have to say. I just think they missed the feel of the book with the movie version.

I just saw a cover of Empire magazine, with Martin Freeman as Bilbo and a picture of the Andy Serkis' Gollum, and honestly, they just do not resemble the characters in the book I'm reading. The movie Gollum really bugged me - they put so much effort into him that they deviated from the original text, and made something completely new. In FotR the brief glimpse of Gollum is different, and he looks much better imo - but then they went and changed it, and I guess that is what we will get in The Hobbit too.

I'll watch it, but I'm not that excited for it. I guess i just love the book, and seeing someone elses version of it on screen just can't compare.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Boondock saints

nowhere near as good as the first, but still enjoyable.
one thing I will say. Holy shit has Flannery aged badly. Looks like a totally different man half the time. I seriously thought it was a different actor until I imdb'd it.

In the Unsurprising News Category: the TOTAL RECALL remake is...

...bad.

http://www.rottentom...al_recall_2010/

Put on your surprised face. Apparently aside from some cool chase scenes and some half decently thought out tech gadgets, the rest is a less fun retread of the original.

Stunned SB is stunned!

I'm thinking just rent it and fast forward to the fight scene between Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale. Repeat.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.
