Caught bits of Lesbian Vampire Killers the other night.

Am I the only person in the world who doesnt like James Corden and would happily kick him down the stairs just to see the shock in his 'chubby but loveable' face?

Nope, he's a corpulent unfunny fuck who yells over other better comedians and needs a punch in the dick. All he needs is a 'why is calling people mongs a bad thing' interview and he'll be the next Gervais, and hopefully as hated.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Besides that movie is a rip off of "Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter" anyway.

Sometimes Hollywood suits running the big production companies just make me fucking irate.

Look at it this way....

It's an American adaptation of a Japanese animated flic that was itself adapted from manga... law of dilution dictates that it will be a complete mess that will be out of theaters even faster than the Dragonball thing and then the world can pretend it never happened.

Is it sad to note that I actually KNOW a number of the people involved in the production of that shitty DRAGONBALL movie?

Yes. I'm afraid that it is.

We'll just pretend this exchange never happened either.

DragonBall: Evolution was absolutely ridiculous. Total shit and hilarious. I considered it deeply karmic considering I had learned about Fate/Stay Night just prior.

Just watched SOURCE CODE finally. A really solid little sci-fi flick. Much enjoyed.

Watched the Harold and Kumar Christmas Special.

not as enjoyable as the other two movies. Maybe I was just creeped out by the 3 60+ men who were baked out of their minds and sat in front of us.

I saw Tintin this weekend. I wasn't at all interested in it, never read Tintin books or watched the cartoon when I was a kid and have always simply assumed Tintin was a priggish wuss and his legion of fans were misguided and/or stupid (based on zero evidence, as all the best theories are). I went to see the movie for 2 reasons:

1. I'm happy to put £12 on a Peter Jackson and Stevie Spielberg movie being a lot of fun (and yes, a movie in the Greater London area costs twelve whole English pounds these days, even with your own 3D glasses!!!)
2. It was Mr PigDog's turn to pick and he did actually like Tintin as a child. I had hoped to deny him his annual film picking opportunity after he put "21" on our dvd rental list and we had to watch it but he reminded me I'm taking up space on the list with the Twilight movies so I was forced to concede the loss.

The verdict? It was a really enjoyable couple of hours. Tintin is actually quite tough, I had no idea he could throw a punch! The cinematography is brilliant (as you would expect from Jackson and Speilberg), they play with 3D just like you would hope. My only negative would be that Captain Haddock is a bit annoying but the awesomeness that is Snowey makes up for any of that. If you're going to watch it, make sure you watch it in 3D.

In other news, recent dvd watches include:
"21" - I've never turned off a movie once I've started watching it but this one came very close. It has no redeeming features and serves only to back up my theory that any gambling movie without Paul Newman in it is absolute dross.
"The Social Network" - I had no interest in seeing it when it was in the cinema but it was surprisingly good and suitably makes a mockery of those giant freakish Winklevoss twins. I wonder how much of it is true!

Au contraire! As a female who was a teenager in the 1990s (or even a female who was ever a teenager at all), angsty, bitchy teen is ambrosia to me. Society conditioned me to be engrossed by all things teen romance, who am I to fight it? So the movies are shit, I can live with that. But I need to know if Bella and Edward can make it work in the face of all that adversity!

LOL, indeed. Logistically though: Bella is a necrophiliac. Sex with dead bodies is sex with dead bodies, sentient or no. :p

Clearing some backlog off the DVR, sooOOoooo...

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN - good enough. Didn't live up to the hype for me. Probably a classic case of waiting too long to see a flic everyone else saw and raved about, but i understand why it was so loved by the critics and Barden was that good.

DAYBREAKERS - generally predictable, but for a vampire flic with Ethan Hawke and Same Neill (ie: soldily at the shallow end of the b-list), way better than i was expecting. There was actually a dark story there with no massive fx and wire work to distract from it.

SCOTT PILGRIM - awesome fun. I need to watch this again. All concerts should be amp vs amp.

Saw the new Harold & Kumar. What they really need to do is drop Harold and Kumar, and just do 2 hrs of Neil Patrick Harris. He is just awesome in those films as a twisted version of himself.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Hehe, totally.

Noted, and thanks to you both. :)

Watched BLITZ and while watching anything about a guy set on killing policemen makes me a bit jumpy, I did enjoy it. I think it must be Jason Statham. Despite him only being able to play one character, I like that one character!

Attack the Block: Why do I imagine the director on set with a cheeky grin the entire time? It's like Monster Squad, but made for twenty-somethings and rated R. I laughed quite a bit throughout it, and frankly, when the kid was shouting unintelligible things in the dumpster and the girls couldn't figure him out I just thought: If they can't understand him how in the hell am I supposed to understand him?

I'd give a solid 7.0 out of 10. It's very good for what it is and recommend to sci-fi comedy fans most definitely.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I really want to see this but it was only on in the cinema for about a week over here. Foolish people don't know a good movie when it's advertised! I love Joe Cornish, the director. He and his friend Adam Buxton used to have this great tv show over here called The Adam and Joe Show. The best bits were the movie parodies they did with stuffed toys. You should check out "Toytanic" and "Saving Private Lion" on YouTube or any of the films they made with their Star Wars toys.

Attack the Block was very good fun, highly recommended. So many quotable lines.

The accents of some of the kids can be a bit difficult to parse sometimes, but still well worth the watch.

SHAUN OF THE DEAD - Funny! Not quite laugh-out-loud funny, but entertaining right thru.

TRON: LEGACY - Brain off. Look at pretty pictures. ooo, shiny!

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART I - Not only was a lot of that not in the book, but there was a good reason why it wasn't. A few good action fx scenes, otherwise yawn.
