If you want a visualization, watch the HBO series "Dune", which is actually pretty much almost canon (they made Irulan into a frontline character)
It was the SCI-FI Channel not HBO...But ages better for sure.

and dkt, yeah, he made it into a sonic weapon... which then got carried over into Atreides in Dune 2 with the sonic tank... jeeebus. Horrible, horrible mutilation. Though I have to say, Lynch did better casting than SFC. Ah well. The Baron is still brilliantly done in the miniseries, better, in fact.
One of the other major problems of the film is that it rushes... a lot. There's plenty of reasons why Dune is such a door stopper.
