Y'know, considering what she did to the current Winter Knight, i'm not so sure that's a healthy relationship to be getting into

As for the voice thing, i could be wrong, but wasn't the implication that she was so furious she didn't trust herself not to fry brainz with her voice?

- Abyss, had a high school teacher with that voice...

It's just the way Butcher phrased it. It sounded like Mabs voice would always fry a mortals mind. You know, like the voice of god from "Dogma".

That is a cool clip. It's obvious to see where Dresdens wit comes from.

He said Alera is "Lost Roman Legion" meats Pokemon/Shinto. Now I'm hooked for sure.

Also, two short stories on their way, one from Marcone's POV and one about Murphy in Hawaii (audience cheered, JB: "did she get some?").

Name of next Dresden novel will be "Changes".

There are also Butcher's podcasts for those interested.

In the latest Butcher is talking about what he may start working on after Alera is finished (6th book is the finale), and he mentions two of the possibilities: A prequel of sorts to Dresden Files, set during the French and Indian war and featuring Ebenazar as a young hot-head :p

He is also planning a SF series called US (United Systems) Marshals, which would be set couple hundred years in the future where the said Marshals are an elite peacekeeping force and also the only ones who know about the aliens.

That list of powerful beings there really does highlight just how high the power-ceiling goes in Dresden. I wonder if, at some point, Harry will climb to the top - or, alternatively, if he'll have to play some against others to get things done, because the biggest powers stay out of the game for obvious plot-based reasons.

Butcher talked about this in a podcast #15, and he likened it to martial arts where after a while just adding up more muscle won't do you all that much. Butcher says that Harry has always been good at blowing up things and buildings and he isn't really getting terribly better at that but what he is getting better is controlling his power and generally (trying) to be more smarter and subtle when he deals with problems.

So the question really is who actually attacked Mab at her fortress, right?

Hellfire was used. Nicodemous didn't know anything about it and was angry when he heard about it.

Most likely there are fallen angels or Demons from hell working for the Black Council.

Don't think there needs to be more to the sittuation... but it being the dresden files there probably is.

I personally am more worried about WHY Mab's fortress was attacked...

I don't know.. Butcher said the entire white council could go head to head with Mab and have a chance at victory. We must assume that the Black council is significantly weaker than the white council in its entirety and as such I find it unlikely that they would be able to pull of a stunt like that. Now, the fallen angels are described as powerfull yes, but also as a minor faction within the supernatural world.

Aye, that's the big one isn't it. At first I wondered if it was just to make the red council able to intrude on Mab's territory, but surely that's a relatively small gain compared to earning the eternal hatred of the Queen of Winter.

Indeed Morgy.

And you know that if Harry knows what happens if you make the winter/summer balance go wacky, bad stuff happens, so we can assume the bad guys do too.

I could almost see Mab having told them to do it so she could see which of her retainers would attempt to help her and which wouldn't. She was hanging out in her tower watching, I think we can agree that she could have destroyed harry and his party if she so chose, which means she allowed the rescue and probably the first attack to happen.

Did the first assault take something from her tower? Someone? Why didn't they do the same thing to summer?

wasn't it determined by Harry and Nicodemus that Thorned Nathaniel was involved in the attack on Arctis Tos?

- Abyss, chilled.

Well Abyss, Horny Nath was the only 'wizard' level demon besides Nico that they know is free.

What if the black council as freed other coins from the church and Niccy dosen't know about it.

Just finished re-reading White Night, and at the beginning of the New Mexico flashback scene Harry gets some mail from a Warden Yoshima, who's related to what's his name, the knight that got killed, she also happens to be a descendent of the last king of Okinawa, so she fits all the criteria for claiming one of the swords from Harry, I'm willing to bet she'll be introduced in the next couple of books. Especially with Lucia in the wings, Harry needs a new tough chick in his life, and I can see her fitting in nicely, even though she's only passingly mentioned.

Good catch - that would be a nice bit of foreshadowing. While on some level i know fandom desperately wants Murphy to take up the sword, on some level that's too predictable and the way Butcher played it in White Night really did cap things off nicely - job offer, refused.

There would be something nicely modern about two of the three Knights of God being women, assuming everyone's other assumption - that Charity is destined to get Michael's sword, is also true.

If we're running true to form, the next book should involve Marcone and the swords subplot.

- Abyss, would have asked about health plan coverage first.

well, personally i think of Turncoat as being one word.....

and yes 'Byss, pretty sure its mentioned that Thorned Nash is playing his own game seperate from Nicodemus and co,
and as he's the one who just half-inched all the other coins from Harry,
there's definitely a case to be made for the black council seeking to power-up its own members.

after all, its been mentioned that the black council types have been 'cross-training' one another in wizardry, etc,
so why not have the supernatural equivalent of a big box of steroids too?
meh. Link was dead :(

Someone commented in one of the videos that Changes was the first one word title and asked why that is. Butcher replied that, well... he changed it :p
