That's a good point.

Perhaps they could go w/ a Mephisto storyline?

Or Thanos. Now that's a bad ass villain.

I heard there was a Silver Surfer movie in the works? Is this not true? I'm skeptical they could pull it off w/o fucking it up though :p

Yes the script is currently being written.

The rumor is that Doug Jones will be acting as the silver surfer.

I think, if done properly, the Surfer movie has a lot of potential. But Apt is right...FF2 (never saw the full movie) apparently blew the Galactus storyline....and Galactus deserves the best.

The problem is that i think Fox owns the rights to the silver surfer and fantastic 4.
They have to keep making movies about them every few years or the rights will go back to Marvel or something like that.

This movie is going to be (apparently) a spin off from the fantastic four franchise.
Its fox though...so I expect shit.

Marvel developed itself into its own Distributor? Wow.

As for FF2: One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Galacticus, world destroying ..."thingy" (not a comic book kid, don't know the terminology) and the SS (who was his Harbinger, yes?) combined and imploded? WTF?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yes, IRONMAN and HULK are their first 2 completely independent films, thats why they can tie them all together, they have there own studios now and shoot what they want...how they want. Dont have to rely and cunts like Fox anymore.
Only problem is that some of there cartoons rights are still owned by other studios, like spiderman, X-men and fantastic four.

So...we finally fond out who the villian is going to be
Micky Rourke is WHIPLASH

Posted Image

A quote accompanying the pic that i agree with...

Quote

I've heard through the grapevine that this scene is crazy and Rourke establishes himself as someone Tony Stark might have some trouble with. I know I wouldn't want to run into this EASTERN PROMISES tattooed creepy hulk of a man in a dark alley somewhere.

I also like that they're veering away from having a totally armored bad guy so we're not just rinse-wash-repeating the last film. I personally can't wait to get a glimpse of the whips in action.

another piece i found regarding this

Quote

Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) sports a power pack on his chest that looks similar to the one that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) uses.

"The technologies are definitely related," says director Jon Favreau. "That's part of the core theme of the film."

The villain's alter ego, Ivan Vanko, is a Russian who "has constructed his own version of a suit," Favreau says. Among the creative innovations: a pair of whips, powered by the suit's glowing chest piece, that are expected to keep Iron Man cracking.

Here is some info on Whiplash/ Blacklash

Abilities
Mark Scarlotti was a brilliant engineer and weapons designer that had expert fighting skills with a whip and nunchakus. He was also a moderate hand-to-hand combatant.

Weapons
Whiplash designed two cybernetically controlled whips that could be converted into nunchakus or vaulting poles. The whips could be spun so fast that they could even blow Spider-Man’s webbing away from Scarlotti preventing him from being ensnared. As both Whiplash and Blacklash, Scarlotti used a necro-lash which could be electrically charged by his gauntlets, released from its handle to deliver a concussion charge, or he could turn up the electric charge to its maximum which caused anything it hit, including Iron Man’s armor, to become brittle. He also used anti-gravity bolas, heavy gravity bolas, and various other devices also of his own design. When Mark returned to his original alias of Whiplash, he also upgraded his armaments with a kinetic whip, a cat-o-nine-tails, and a whip made of super conductive filament in order to channel lightning as an offensive weapon.

Paraphernalia
Scarlotti wore a costume made of steel mesh that could absorb a bullet’s impact or the force from a punch from Iron Man. Later on in his criminal career, Whiplash used a flying platform and jet discs for both transportation and mid-air combat. He also had a cybernetic flying harness equipped with extra arms enabling him to wield half a dozen whips at one time.

seems pretty cool... i dont think all of these abilities will be used....bit still very cool

I think this is the stupidest idea for a movie villain yet.

Come on, in this day and age, Ironman having trouble fighting a guy with whips for arms... really!? Pfffhh. So Ironman will be hovering at a steady 100 feet over the ground while his repulsor rays pummel Whiplash 10 feet into the ground leaving nothing but a red smear for 90 minutes.

I thought they were going to combine Whiplash with something else? Like the crimson dynamo.

http://www.rapsheet....ain/IronMan.asp

Looking at this old list of Ironman villains, its no wonder they had problems coming up with something proper.

I wish they'd just stolen a villain from one of the other Marvel heroes.

Doubt it. After Ironman 2 there will just be the Avengers movie, which'll probably have the Hulk as a villain, being masterminded by one of those evil-doctor-strange like guys.

Something similar to the current "World's Most Wanted" Arc from Matt Fraction's The Invincible Iron Man, with Tony Stark on the run and going back to basics while his rogues gallery try to hunt him down, would work quite well, I think. It would be really difficult to set up within the body of the movie, though.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants.
