Fantastic stuff Onrack.

Can't really decide which one I like better, Icarium looks like he just slaughtered everyone and Quick has some mystic mojo going on.

I like the top sketch of a lizard, I see you're leaning more towards komodo dragons/present lizard types rather than old school dinosaurs like raptors and T-rez.
The other two, on the left and right, look too slight and dog like.

Are you drawing the Kell Huntersor something more like the new Ve'gath? Remember, the lizards are at least 3 meters tall, heavy enough to crush a standing man, chop through armored men and horses, etc. So they should both be strong looking and fast.

The "comic style" means kind of over-exaggerated physical characteristics right? I think all of these are top-notch, but the QB one is way to muscular. I've always seen him as a lanky fellow. I could be wrong though. Still... brilliant stuff. Is that Apsalar or Lostara at the bottom left? The tilt of the eyes make me think Kanese?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Awesome stuff, Onrack!

Lostara Yil: 'Her skin was dark and tattoed in Pardu style, her nose narrow and aquiline' (Hoc UK mmpb p.285)

QB: Watch his hands. They are always described as elegant and almost feminine..."...almost feminine hands...fine, ascetic features...thin, spidery hands..."
GotM, UK mmpb p.79, UK Trade p.59

The rest: pure AWESOME!

Agree on QB. Also, a more mad/cunning and less 'generic evil villain' look would be more fitting.

The sketches are cool :p

Wow Onrack those are fantastic. If they ever make a Malazan graphic novel you should be the one to draw it. ;)

I would go with the top centre lizard aswell amoung the sketches and the bearded guy seems like a prep for kallor???

Anyways I dig the exaggerated pose of quick. creates an atmosphere of controled power. as always though Icarium is in his own class. If you draw them facing off I'd bless you lol.

Oh one more thing, just peanut gallery stuff but I think quick should have a "wolfish grin", yes his lank and femininely built for a guy but his major characteristic is his playful grin which would truely suit the style you use here and add contrast to the two coloured in images. thats just my two cents worth though, monumental pics regardless ;)

I just took a second look at the Icarium drawing... and while Icarium himself is fantastic... that background almost shouts "CHAOS!" I can feel/hear the KEEEEEEEEEN! sound, with a nice touch, somehow, of the eyes also kind of conveying it. Real neat.

WOW. You got icarium dead on, and that's something nobody else has done yet, especially his lower canines, most people make them way to big and those look just right. And all the other stuff is perfect, captures the moment better than anybody's words (except for steven erikson of course)

btw Lostara Yil is from Seven Cities so i'd say she has like an Arabic Skin tone. (Kalam and Quick are seven cities too but I think they are more of an exception, different tribes)
Being optimistic's worthless if it means ignoring the suffering of the world. Worse than worthless. It's bloody evil. And being pessimistic, well, that's just
the first step on the path, and it's a path that might take you down Hood's road, or it takes you to a place where you can settle into doing what you can,
hold fast in your fight against the suffering. And that's an honest place, Cuttle.

well i think the pardu tribe is of black stock, not arabian or anything. if you look at how quon tali and seven cities would have fit together before continental drift pulled them apart, dal hon and the areas around aren, where the pardu and the mekhars are from would have been adjacent. i'll always think of lostara as a black woman.

Agree with Apt on the dino thingies top looks more of a "Brute Force" than the other two. Love the sense of movement in Qb pic and Iccy scares the shit outa me.
