There are lots of ways in which I think some characters shouldn't count in this poll.

For instance, I saw someone put down 'Picker.' Call me a fool, but I'm pretty %100 positive we've seen the last of Picker and her gang (5 or so) survivors in Darujistan. So picking all five of them is a safe bet for 5 Malazans who live. Picking Ormagulan and Gumble, or whoever, is also basically a cop-out because we'll never hear from them again.

I also find it odd people pick all these big important characters to live. Lots of those have to die, or ascend, or reincarnate or whatnot, so I would choose few to none. The ones who will live through the whole ordeal, as mortals, are the soldiers and regular types who Erikson LIKES the most. As in, Cord or Shard could die tomorrow, since they're just kinda a couple dudes, but I bet you Tarr lives. He's just slightly favored. Bottle could go that way too. Gesler, Stormy... I bet Corabb and Yil live.

I would NOT be surprised to see Kalam, Quick Ben, Fiddler or Hedge (again?) go by the end. After all, their brethren are waiting for them. One of the Parans will likely live, but either could go.

Overall character wise, the only two characters I am pretty sure will be there to the end are Cotillion and Shadowthrone. Maybe throw Traveler in with 'em.

3.) Ganoes Paran (don't see SE choosing to kill the Master of the Deck)

5.) Ruthan Gudd (just don't think he's dead yet, even though it looked pretty much like a guarantee)


Quite a few non-Malazan I would have added to the list as well, such as - Karsa, Brys, Udinaas, Rud Ellale, Torrent and maybe a few others as well. Guess only time will tell though, for Malazan and non-Malazan alike. SE does have a tendency to kill awesome characters after all and it seems that he really began clearing house in DoD especially.

Hmm lets see here.

1. Kalam. He was either saved to actually survive, or go out with a BIG boom.
2. Quick Ben. I just can't see him getting himself killed, I just can't.
3. Fiddler. Ok I doubt it, but I hope. Besides, someone needs to sing the dirge of the Bridgeburners and Bonehunters, he already has an instrument.
4. Hellian. Unless her breath accidentally catches fire and she burns to death from the inside out.. she's to drunk to die.
5. Nefarias Bredd. Seriously, he'll be left standing when everything is said and done, and when people ask who he is cause they've never seen him before, he'll introduce himself and walk off.

And yes I'm trying to avoid the cheap ones. Cotillion and Shadowthrone, I really hope Cotillion comes through. Granted he's the one more likely to sacrifice himself, but he's also much saner than ST, and just might decide he's in over his head and save his own ass, either goes with him.
Traveller, come on, considering who he is, well gods shouldn't be on that list.
Toc the Younger, sure he could still be around after everything is done, but no matter how much I love him, he's already dead, he doesn't count anymore. Same goes for Hedge, Whiskeyjack and the rest on the wrong side of Hoods gate.
Paran... well he kind of counts but kind of doesn't. He's the Master of the Deck and that does put him in an interesting position. But the last we heard from him he seemed to be in a nasty battle.

I'm not so sure about Paran. I have a feeling that the Deck of Dragons itself might die or be sacrificed/undone, and the Master along with it, perhaps with Icarium's set replacing it entirely. Just one of a billion possibilities though.

the title suggests it means after the series as a whole, otherwise I couldn't have Paran either as he died in GOTM. So after all the confrontations, and we do assume hedge is alive again?

1-Quick Ben - Because I like Quick Ben and I don't think he sacrifice himself for the malazan army
2-Corrab - Because he can't die, with the luck thing any way
3-Paran -the cool one by the way and because he can travel anywhere using cards (how cool is that) and the deck will prevail or something like that
4-Kalam - Because hes gonna come back we all know it
5-Gelser - he has an army of K'chain people and this kind of includes Stormy
