Well I've done 3 rereads (one on paper) and don't really feel motivated to make a 4th...I think I'll make our submission numero uno when I get home.

also, who are our judges?

zanth and wordmerchant have offered their services. That means we are still in need of 1 judge.

Well this story was actually one I had started sometime ago and tnhen left because I didn't like where it was going. So I already had the main idea and the beginning( which needed a bit of revising) and I just had to continue. Otherwise I don't think I would have already finished.

I pretty much took a week or so off my WIP (that I already spend ~1-2 hours on per day, 3~4 on weekends) and set it on a short story. ~4.5k words.

I'd love to join this too if its not a problem.

I submitted something on the forum ages ago in the writting thread. Its not really been edited or anything so I'm curious if its eligible for this after some reworking?

I'm also semi-busy writting a short story for my independant artwork. is that more eligible? and can we include assistant media to better present the story?

A thought I had is that should we worry about pdf format submissions and all that jazz? several people might not want to freely submit work so it could be an assist option? I'm fine either way but maybe that option would encourage others to join aswell

Well, the more the merrier... though I'm not sure if Shin will let you add artwork as part of the submission, you should definitely post it somewhere for us all to see (maybe in the fantasy art section of the board?)

I might submit something. I wrote a short story about a factory worker when I was sixteen, that would only need a little revision. Nee chance of winning like.

THe more the merrier! THe deadline is still a ways away (but don't get complacent).

@dolmen, if you want to submit your writing thread story, that's fine. As for your other work, if the pictures are necessary to drive the story, then I dont' think its appropriate for this contest. If they are just an addition, you are welcome to submit the story and post the pictures seperately.

As for submissions, you can submit your works as pdf, doc, docx, txt . Don't worry too much about the formatting, it just has to be something I can copy and paste to the writing thread.

Hmm any way you can preserve formatting for mine? Italics are more or less critical for character thoughts and telepathic communication.

edit: submission sent. D:

edit #2: Shit, that might've been an older version without a couple edits. Can you just link the html file, please? :unworthy:

You could do a search in word for the italics, and place [i ][/ i] around them.

Also it would be a good idea to put line breaks between paragraphs, I think.

@Shin... which format is best to send in? One for the judges to read in word (or PDF or whatever), or one that looks better on the forum? I mean, do the judges typically read the entries in word or on the forum?

If you still need a third judge... I've written and worked in publication for Law Review for the University of Dayton School of Law (yes, entirely un-sexy), but also I obviously read fantasy as well and can bring a critical eye. However, the difference between academic peer review and this are worlds apart, so I could understand if you wanted someone with a little more... fantasy writing capability.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I've got 2438 words so far in three parts. Gotta rewrite the beginning because it was just
the idea I had. Plus I have a part written on paper.

I am assuming Shinrei will send the judges the stories when the time is right, is there a grading scheme or is that for us to come up with?
